Canning! These came from a friend of ours and we'll be picking more in the next couple of days. I can't believe the size of them, given the wacky weather we've had this summer! The top pic is a 5 gallon bucket full (plus one pepper!)! Some of them are the size of grapefruits! Everybody else I've talked to says their gardens haven't done much of anything this year. I know mine sure hasn't! Felling pretty lucky cause I thought maybe there wouldn't be any canning this year!

Have fun, I know you will enjoy them so much this winter, I think that makes all the work worth while. So, what are you doing with them? juice, soup,?

Yummy...a lot of work but so worth the results come winter time.

My tomato's did little to nothing this year. They looked nice but that was all. Would love to be canning tomato's this weekend. I have been working on pears this week. If you have a dehydrator try some tomato's...so yummy.

It all comes back to the ground!

I'll be making spaghetti sauce primarily today since that it what we use the most around here. The next batch I'll probably do regular tomato sauce and stewed tomatoes, maybe some salsa. We do have a dehydrator, but it's been a couple of years since I've used it, not sure if it still works. I may have to get it out and give it a try!

Stephanie,
Look so yummy, you have definitely been Blessed. My garden just has not done much this year, no canning for me for sure. Enough to eat now but none really to preserve for later. I am seeding out now for fall crops. Hoping for a better fall garden. I have been adding minerals back into my soil so I hope it helps. Have fun canning and making yummy sauce for the winter soups and meals to come.

Stephanie, Those are gorgeous. I was just thinking of getting my dehydrator out tomorrow, too. It was a good tomato year for us.
