We will finally be getting our new barn roofing today. Hubby and his nephew (who does concrete work for a living), already worked on the blocks that worked lose in the storm.

This project is taking priority this week (rain is in the forecast...again....sigh). Hubby works full time so, I may be up on the roof helping too. We don't want the wood to rot from so much rain.

In the meantime we are still cleaning up around here. I have yet to transport the old roofing to the scrap yard.

Hubby loaned our farm truck to one of his nephews, and it over heated, so it's still over there, waiting on repairs.

Anyway, just wanted to update on our progress. We still haven't had someone look at the dryer.

I am anxious to see the barn finished. Hubby said the roofing is white.

Glad things are progressing, Kristi!
Sorry that it has to be done, but it seems like life is that way . . . challenges all along the way!
Grateful for safety and that things aren't worse than they could have been.
PRAYING!

Kristine, so good to hear that things are moving towards recovery from the terrible storm damage! Your area of the country has really had a monsoon summer this year. Garden ruined, storms with damage makes for a very frustrating few months for you and everyone in your region! Hopefully this will all be settled in time for a dry Fall with some warm sunny days to get a few cold weather veggies producing and some weekend get always in the new camper to enjoy the foliage and warm campfires!! Take care.

Congrats! You will rest so much better having this project behind you, won't you? Hope you get your truck back soon, that is terribly inconvenient. I'll be thinking of you hoping everyone stays safe throughout the project.

When they delivered, they forgot 2 boards. However, Hubby went to work today and could not get in the gate, so he took a vacation day (he forgot his wallet).

He's getting a load of oak wood today, getting the missing boards, and starting the roof. One day of work is so precious around here. We got more rain again last night too.

I guess his BIL called and said there was a tree down somewhere, and it was free for the taking. They took the splitter up there two days ago, and the oil started spurting out. So, after getting that fixed, they brought home one truck full of oak last night. Free!! However, you should have see the sweat on Hubby. These pieces that are left are HUGE! He took photos. I'm glad he has his BIL and nephew to help split them.

On another note, I guess the goat fencing will be priority too. Somehow or another, we have to get it done. Misty is eating the barn, and now we can't put them outside at all. The other day, they managed to (all) spring loose. They put a nice size hole in the old fencing. Our problem is the wet ground. Mother Nature has not been nice this year.

I started to deep clean my room, since it was raining. I sorted, organized, made lists, and got my hands on supplies - crafting supplies. Somehow I got sidetracked (ha ha!) and started a new item for Farmer's Market. I felt terrible later, that I had stopped working to make it, but didn't even realize I did. Our brains are a bit on overload here. So...I'll be sharing that project soon.

Could you send up a few prayers we can "hold it together" during all of this?

Kristina, Don't blame you for being so excited about a load of oak for "free" WOW! You know you will get this all done. What is the other choice! Hoping the goats will behave in the meantime. Good luck.

Guess what?

The guys brought home 3 loads of split red oak yesterday, in addition to the load from the night before. They plan to get another load today - all free.

However, please keep the guys in your prayers. My son and Hubby's BIL almost got hurt. They are wrestling huge cut sections of the tree. You know, the size that most folks would rather not mess with? One almost landed on my son's leg/foot. He could have been seriously hurt. Good thing I have eye wash and an eye wash cup. My son got wood in his eye too. The first thing I asked Hubby was, "you are using eye protection aren't you?"

I'm just glad my BIL was driving around and saw this free wood.

We'll I asked the Good Lord for something to "stock up" on this season, and I (we) got it.

They have brought home 5 loads now, and are out getting another. I can smell the cut wood when I step out of the house. Mmmmm! The smell of a warm winter without worrying about wood.

Hubby plans to start working on the barn roof tomorrow, but it's been raining every day now, off and on.

I plan to share a photo of my "hillbilly" clothesline (indoors). I ran out of space and the constant rain gives me no break in drying outside right now.
