I made 4 gallon of laundry detergent, 2 with Dove Bar Soap & 2 with Fels Naptha.
I am soooo impressed with both!!! Tide has NOTHING on this detergent!!
Especially with my hubby's clothes{He works in a factory}. When he comes home his clothes stink from the nasty things he makes and I can smell them a mile away. When I washed his clothes on thing I noticed, no residue in washer.... Hmmm. So, I took a little bit and cleaned the shower/Tub. OMG!! Way better than anything I ever used...
So, my thought is that this Laundry detergent has multiple uses!!!
Thank You.... :DDD |

i agree, so much better, and no residue in the washer, and the clothes smell so good. i used Ivory soap the last batch i made. having seen the "fun" way to grate Ivory, i had to try it. one bar of Ivory soap in a bowl, pop it in the microwave for a coupld of minutes. let cool and crumble. it mades a bowlful of hard "bubbles" what fun. be careful, the bowl will be hot.

It becomes a gel. I have to get a work out and shake her up. LOL |

I have not tried that yet. I must say, I have an OLD grater that is sharp as a tack yet.

I used to used a similar recipe and kept it in a bucket as it was more like a gel. I have a big apothecary jar that I keep detergent in now. I think I could still use it for this as it would probably hold 3 gallons at least. I really need to get back to making it again but I am going to try this recipe. Mine called for baking soda and FelsNaptha but I think I'd rather use ivory or something like that.

I actually had gotten some of Dollar Gerneral's version of Dove. I got the 6 pack. I used 2 Grated bars for the recipe. Worked out Great.

I really like the Dove and when my dad was being treated for skin cancer on his face the doctor told him to only use Dove. I was surprised at that since it isn't all natural but I believe it had to do with keeping the skin supple since it was radiation they did and that would burn. He didn't get any burns or blisters so it was good advice I think. :)

My mother-in-law uses homemade liquid detergent to clean the toilet bowl. Just pour a little in and let set for about 20 minutes. No more hard water rings.

I usually fill my jugs only about two thirds full so I have plenty of shaking room! I have been so pleased with how my washer looks since using this soap. And the savings don't hurt either!

Thanks for that link, Lori! That's pretty great! My Grandma always used to use Dove... Makes me get a little teary every time I smell it! Maybe we'll give this recipe a whirl! Hugs - Nini
