So sad to hear that Schoep the dog passed away. He was the dog made famous from that photo showing his owner relieving the dog's arthritis pain by floating him in a lake. Sad to hear, but you know Schoep had a great life...you can just see the love between the owner and dog.

Thought I'd share with my fellow dog loving farmsisters.

So sorry to hear this. The man and his dog were a portrait of true devotion.

So sorry to hear! I'm sure his "master" and best friend is grieving! I know how it is to grieve the loss of a pet!
He DID have a great life and lots of love!

I saw that too Nicole. SO sad- but WOW he lived to be 20 years old. Amazing. The whole story is amazing, how he helped his master through such difficult spots in life and then his owner helped him. Our animals truly are part of our family and it amazes me how "human" like they are. They have such personalities and are a true blessing.

That story made me cry. The picture alone of the dog and his owner was amazing in itself. I am so glad they both shared so much love between then.

I hope my Bonnie lives to be twenty! That would be a blessing! My dh says he always knows where I am because she is always right there with me. :)

How wonderful that Schoep lived such a long and well-loved life. I wish that our dogs could live at least as long as we do, but I've come to accept that we are meant to love several dogs in our lifetime. My girl is 14 or 15 right now, and she is a shepherd mix; she's doing great.
