Recently I redecorated my upstairs landing but not sure if I'm happy with the look.

Any suggestions?

The small chair I purchased at Michaels and painted/distressed in black. Should I do a different color? Does this chair look too large next to this table?

Hi Joan,
First I LOVE your black! I have always loved black, it is so classic looking.
Try this ... In the first photo, take the table and put it on an angle in the corner ... take the chair and place it to the right of the table on the larger of the two walls place your doll from the second photo on the chair ... no matter if she is oversized or not ... And then bring all the stuff that is on the table in photo # 2 and place them on that table. So just reverse all the stuff on one table to the other ... That way you will have a bit of height in the blank corner ... and you will add the consistancy of the chairs ... you now have showcased a chair collection.
It might not work ... hard to tell size in a photo ... LOVE your chandlier!

So I tried to do exactly what Teri said, but my one wall is smaller than it looks in the photos. But, I decorated as closely as I could to Teri's suggestions. Great Job Teri!!!

Love the look of both ways! I also like black - so basic and is a nice backdrop to country /primitive pieces. Other than maybe a tied together bunch of dried lavender (or similar) on the wall behind your pieces I can't think of anything else. Well......or maybe a small antique quilt? :)

Love each and every piece - especially the doll!

Just my opinion here but I think you need something to break up so much black on that table in your second set of pics. The table with the brown top looks great the way it is arranged and the doll in the chair. Just seems to be a lot of dark pieces on the top of the black table?? The birdhouse and white doily does lighten up the bottom nicely.

O, a trouble's a ton or a trouble's an ounce,
Or a trouble is what you make it!
And it isn't the fact that you're hurt that counts,
But only--how did you take it?

Less is more. I like the one with the cat. Love the chandelier, but not covering the picture; both should have their own space.

It would be kind of fun to display your itty-bitty chairs on the big one, don't you think? Perhaps you could hang each from the two slats with yarn or something decorative that wouldn't scratch the paint.

Don't you just love braid rugs? Yours is very pretty.

Hey Joan, can I put my 2 cents worth in? lol The table with the wood top needs maybe a basket with some dried hydrangea or some silk ones sitting in the floor underneath the table. I like the 2 pictures with the cat in the one. Just needs something under the table. Anyway very pretty!!!
Hugs Sandy

Another country heard from......

The black and white contrast is good,so try putting a dark mat, doily, whatever, under the white chair and the light mat under the dark chest.

I think placing some flowers would add color, that's something to think about :)

Joan, I like the way you have it in the second pic, with Teri's suggestion. I like the doll best in the chair. Looks good either way. Love the cat. She is adorable, reminds me of my Muffin who passed in March.

Hugs,
Nicole

PS If you want to add more color, you could try placing something in the doll's lap, like red flowers. :)
