Well, after looking for several years on and off, I finally brought home my very own vintage glamper yesterday. She is a 1975 14 foot Dutch Craft. She even has a bathroom! She is all original and needs some TLC and of course glamping up, but I am super excited to be her new momma! She has good solid bones, and I am so looking forward to this project. And I hope you are sitting down for this...I got her for FREE!!! Yes you read that right, she was FREE! Original owners passed away, and their children just wanted to find someone who would enjoy her as much as their parents did for years..and that someone happened to be ME! It was karma of being in the right place at the right time and I am SO grateful! Here are a few pictures of her
And so the journey begins. Wish me luck!

Thanks Mary Jane! I still cant believe it. My wheels are spinning with ideas. I have to go out there and just "sit" and see what comes to me as far as "décor" and colors and her name. The possibilities are endless!

Oh Laurie, How exciting!!!!! I know you will glamp her up beautifully. You got a lot of ideas from CJ, I am sure. Have fun!!!!! I have a 1977 Jalldee and this year we are not using it, but putting it up for sale. My dear hubby cannot back it up for anything, and I cannot take the tension trying to help him. I told him last year that I will not go anymore until we get out motorhome. I love camping, but being handcapped, I cannot use a tent and must have a good mattress. We are still looking for a motorhome, then next year we will be full time glampers travelling all the states.

Yes Janet- CJ is a definite inspiration when it comes to glamping and I have been blessed to have been able to glamp with her and Robin TWICE!! CJ- YES- at the very least if "she" is not on the road when you and Robin make it to NY then you will have a cool guest house to glamp in! LOL Marlee and Kelly- thanks for the positive input...I will definitely post pictures along the way! Hugs,

WOW! How exciting!! You will have soooo much fun in her and her org. owners will be smiling down on every adventure!!!!
The road to success is not straight. There is a curb called Failure, a loop called Confusion; speed bumps called Friends; red lights called Enemies;caution lights called Family. You will have flats called jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination; an engine called Perseverance; insurance called Faith, and a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success!! |

Oh My goodness Cindy- I LOVE the name Junebug! Too cute. Definitely putting that towards the top of the list! Thank you for the wonderful suggestion!
Today I took down all of the old curtains, and started "cleaning" a little bit. DH and I repaired the leg on the dinette table, where the screws were coming loose and I even brought the radio out there while I worked and it felt SO GOOD! Hubby also helped me get the front window cover/awning open, since one of the pins was frozen. He freed it up and drilled a new bolt through for me. (this coming from a man who shall we say doesn't really have an interest in "glamping" LOL) He is going to help me "seal" the roof this weekend too. We are expecting great weather for the next week, so I really want to "shore" her up and caulk around etc, so that I can begin priming the inside for paint etc.
I will continue to update as I go along, so thanks so much for all of the well wishes! Hugs

Kristina, I have never heard of Fort Custer. It must be in lower Michigan. We live in Upper Michigan, closer to Wisconsin. We are a long way from Ohio. Too bad, I would love to meet you some day.

Well, today I worked on making sure the roof is watertight. I got a spray waterproofing made by Rustoleum, that you can spray in all the nooks and crannies/seams around vents etc. it goes on and dries clear so you don't really even see it. Kinda cool! We also picked out our color scheme ( my daughter and I). Below is the fabric we are doing our dinette cushions in. The picture shows it more of a blue, when in fact the background is really a really pretty aqua. The material is actually quilted and really nice! It looks kind of vintage, and I LOVE it! We got Home Depot to color match paint from the fabric using the aqua and the pinkish rose color for accents. Wheels are spinning and work is beginning!

Laurie, How exciting and how wonderful it was free! You got a real gem there! Maybe you should name her Gem! Go to Pinterest and search for Vintage Campers or Glamping and be ready to spend a couple of hours drooling and getting ideas. You can also then pin them to your own board! Here is my Glamping Board to start you off http://pinterest.com/dianevh/glamping/

Thanks fellow glampers!!! I am ALREADY having so much fun with her. I've been cleaning her, and stripping her of her cushions, curtains etc. My Dh keeps teasing me with how happy this lil trailer is making me already. Today I went to the RV store and had to get the "adapter" plug (from 30amp to 15 amp) so that I can plug her in. Came home, ran the extension cord out from the shed to her and VOILA! All of the lights/outlets etc work! YAY. I am not really savvy with some of the other workings, and want to have someone who knows what they are looking at/doing with her before I try things like the the stove etc. My wheels are spinning faster than I can keep up! LOL But, boy is it fun! I have to keep telling myself, one step at a time Laurie. Thanks again for all of the encouragement and if anyone has any suggestions, ideas etc- please pass them on! Hugs,
