I've got huge dome sky lights and all summer they roast the living room and make it unbearably hot in the house. Mine are the type that rise up leaving a deep sill underneath them. I took small tension rods and sewed a shade of green light weight canvas leaving a tunnel hem on each end. They fit well and block the sun coming in. The living room is bathed in green light, but it's not baking us in our skins. If you had to hang them under the sky light, you could use big gold cup hooks to hold the rods I think. Any ways, I thought I'd share my skylight awning idea with y'all

We have sky light and finally put in new windows with shades built in them. They are in a sort of sunroom. It is hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The new windows helped a lot. Still not perfect. I am impressed how you solved your problem.
