GURLZ ... i wuz thinkin' mayhaps it might be a good idea if we had a central place .. or a coupla' friends here on the forum where we could maintain a list of our phone numbers where we can be reached if for some reason, we seem to have gotten 'lost' from the farm .. with permission to call if we haven't posted in awhile .. just to check to make sure we are o.k. there have been several friends who post and post and post .. then .. just seem to vanish in thin air. what do ya'll think of this idea?

I think that is a good idea. I was on a mama board when pregnant with ZOe and we each had a buddy....maybe that is how we could do it...a buddy system?

great idea .. let's start a BUDDY LIST in a new topic .. and as we sign up .. we can swap names .. hopefully both buddies won't disappear at the same time.
i'll wait to start that one to see if anyone has an 'organized' way to do this. xo

I would think to make the list like any other....take sign ups until x date and then matchup partners.

tasha .. since we are constantly getting new friends in the 'farmyard' .. i think the list should stay open forever .. and those that wish to sign up as they discover us .. can just be matched as soon as someone else signs up.
if the life of a gurlfren who is on the list .. goes down different paths .. and she can't participate any more .. she could let her 'phone-sister' know of this .. and the 'phone-sister' could get another partner.

i thunk of 'nuther idee too! if someone lives in another country .. and phone calls are tooo expensive .. we can share a couple other e-mail addresses with our 'contact-sister' ... that can be contacted to inquire of our where-abouts.
nance (from france) .. just posted .. and i know she is back and forth .. and uses a friend's computer in france (or is that here??) i've offered to be her 'contact sister' .. to trade a couple names and e-mail addresses we can contact. i'll give her hank's and my daughter's. they 'almost always' know where i'm wandering off to!
friend and family ... e-mail addresses are a good alternative to phone numbers too to check on each other if we are missing from the farmyard for long.

This is a GREAT idea and I have national calling with Bellsouth (I pay a flat rate and call anywhere in the US, talk as long as I like and it doesn't cost me any more). I don't have a cell phone, except for emergencies so I use that to call people!!

i think a 'master list' is a good idea .. probably a coupla' the girls should have it ... wonder if anyone at maryjane's would like to be the 'momma' of the list??
if it's not too much work for someone there (hmmmmmmm .. isn't there a 'liason' farmgirl that does stuff kinda' like this? OHHHHHHHH .. MJ FARMGURLZZZZZZZZ ... could ya'll let us know if this is sumpthin' you can do? if not .. that is o.k. .. we surely all understand the zillion directions you have to run in.
well, anyhooooooooo .. let's go ahead a start a 'swappie' list of "CONTACT CUZINS" .. in another thread. Would it be best to put it in ACROSS THE FENCE .. or our WELCOME heading? Let's jus' start the list .. and wait to see who wants to be the 'momma' of it! If NANCE signs up .. i've already mentioned that i'd be happy to swap some e-mail contacts with her since we're 'over the sea' from each other.
since i'm travelling to ohio next week for most of november .. it's probably best to not count on me to be the momma of the list .. as i cannot always get 'on-line' from their computer contraption. still hoping someone from 'the farm' will want to take the 'master list' .. and pairing up of each other .. i reeeeeeely do like the idea of just taking us 'in line' .. that way .. it truly is 'serendipity' as to who becomes who's CUZIN (oh .. i reeeeeeeely do know how to spell COUSIN .. but CUZIN jus' sounds so much friendlier to me!) what'chall think?

Frannie- I think that's a great idea! We have a similar program to this for our Relief Society at church- it's called a Watchcare Program and we give our 'watchcare friend' a call every now and then to check on them and make sure all is well (or not). In addition to visiting every month, it keeps us on top of things where needs are concerned.
Knowing someone misses you is something we all need!!

Happy beautiful fall Tuesday! So, here’s what we’ve come up with for a Farmgirl CareNet. With privacy issues in mind, we think we can get involved AND keep it streamlined. If you want to be on the Farmgirl CareNet, send me (via e-mail) your screen name, first name only, e-mail, and phone number (cell phone also if you want). I’ll keep all of them under lock and key here. If someone goes missing or you’re worried about someone, contact me or post something on the forum and I’ll give them a call and report back. If I get too many names, I’ll e-mail everyone the name of an assistant or assistants who have volunteered to help (take a few names) and get permission from everyone before any of the names leave my safe keeping. What do you think? Will this work for everyone? I think it’s such a wonderful idea! It’s nice to know someone is worrying about you, if need be.

do you sleep? this is such a great idea. i was recently a little worried about nancy jo and it was so helpful when gloria j started that thread to find out what was up.
you my sweet girlfriend have also been missing in action a few times as well, but i always imagine you are on the road with a new adventure. anyway, keep those great ideas coming, we have to look out for one another.
