I'm approaching 45 in August and I've started to notice a few little changes. Wondering if anyone else has experienced them. A about a week before my cycle I have started having SERIOUS night sweats. I mean "get-up-and-change-nighties" types of sweats. It will only be for one or two nights. Then I started noticing the headaches where I never really had any. I try to stay to myself as I'm "untouchable" i.e. I'm taking heads and spitting out eyeballs.

Any of this sound normal to you? I take my physical this week and will be discussing my symptoms but just wanted to get some input.

I started with my first hot flash when I was 39! When I asked my Dr. he said I was to young ... Tell that to the person who is controlling my thermostat.
I was completly finished with my change at age 49!
So I don't think there are any hard and fast rules to it ... I sure hope your Dr. will help. Good luck.

Yep, I'm 42 & have been going through this for about a year now. My dr checked my hormone levels & said they are where they need to be, but I know my body & things are different than they used to be. Some months are worse than others too. Hot flashes, night sweats, headaches, cramping, you name it...I got it! Good luck!

You know, I had mine checked either last year or the year before that and my levels hadn't changed but I HAD noticed small things. I actually wouldn't mind getting it over with if its coming on now :-)

Aw, hang in there, Tracy. You will survive. *grin* I've found that Solaray's "Female Hormone blend SP-7C" helps some of the mood swings. Its not hormones, but a herbal blend primarily composed of Black Cohosh.

Thanks for the advice Judy, unfortunately, the Black Cohosh causes me to spot. Any alternative to that?

Oh, that's too bad, Tracy. According to my Prescription for Herbal Healing book (Phyllis Balch), under "menopGinseng plus Vitamin E (800IU) "stops hot flashes, increases ovarian estrogen production in early menopause." I've never tried this but may be worth looking into. Good luck!

I started noticing changes when I was 38 and completely stopped having my cycles when I was 44. Night sweats and headaches are normal. I still have an occasional hot flash but I notice they are more often if I eat junk food. All the rest of it is pretty much non existent now and I am 51.

By the way, using Wild Yam cream helped me immensely with all the symptoms of peri-menopause.

I started having hot flashes especially at night.
I take vitamins. Maca and a Menospause Essentials (ordered through Swanson Vitamins) They both seem to help.

you may want to give amino acids a go...I know they helped balance out my hormones a LOT.
