We went to Menard's yesterday and bought our first mower. My DH was skeptical (he was about the stove top popcorn maker too, but now it's all he likes!), but he finally came over to the dark side with me and we bought a reel mower. It was only 100 dollars at Menard's. It was probably made in China...but right now it was all we can afford, if I like it and he likes it (we have never had a yard before always apartments) we will probably upgrade to a USA made one from like Lehmans. (as it's not like this one would go in the landfill any way, with the zero noise pollution and as small as it is, we could store 3 in the space of a gas/electric one!) it can always be our back up, or we can both be mowing at the same time (again zero noise polution so having two of us out there wouldn't upset us, the animals or any one else).

Congrats. on a "reel" deal! It's so much better for the environment. I was going to get a reel mower, then found out they don't really work if you have gumballs and small branches and stuff like that in your yard. so I bought an electric one. It works pretty good. And if I have to stop mowing for a minute or so, it starts right back up without having to pull that obnoxious cord like on the power mowers. I'm trying to reduce my (admittedly small) carbon footprint. I figure as long as I don't fly, I'm probably doing OK. But every little action helps. Small things add up to a healthier, cleaner planet.
