Is there a way to tell what fiber an afghan is made from?
I bought this lovely afghan at a Thrift over in Idaho,,,
Brought it home, laundered it and it fluffed/felted(sort of) up...
I think it is a natural fiber as opposed to a synthetic fiber..
I took some of the fiber fluff (in the dryer vent) and lit it with a match.. it flamed and singed but did not 'melt'...
Now I just wish I could figure out if it is wool, Alpaca or even bamboo...

anyone have any ideas how to figure out what type of fiber it might be?

Could a local yarn shop help you identify the yarns?

Edited to add: It's very pretty! What a great find!

If you search online there are instructions for the various types of tests for determining fiber types. There are smells that come from burning, disintegration in bleach, etc. Wish I could remember the best site for it out there, but there are many.
