Hi Farmgirls,

I've been canning jam for years, but last year I canned applesauce for the first time. I know my jam can last unopened for about 18+ months, but what about applesauce? I've got a jar in the fridge that has been there since last fall, unopened, and several more in a cabinet. How long are they safe to eat?

I was always been told that as long as the jars are kept in a cool dark place, and the lids haven't "popped" they will remain safe for an indeterminate amount of time. Of course, my family always managed to eat it all up before 18 months.
