Hi everyone. I have "lurked" for a while and finally joined because I feel such a bond to you all! You are women with good old fashioned values which is so important to me and not always seen these days. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am 43, married and the mom of 3 boys. We currently live in the Spokane Valley, but are hoping to move to the Freeman/Rockford area in the Spring. In the meantime, we have already transfered our kids to the Freeman school district and are driving the 30 minute each direction drive. We drive them to and from school in the morning, pick up the youngest at 3 pm and the older two after football practice at 5:20. Our lives will be much simpler once we move to the area. Right now, we are in a beautiful neighborhood (Northwoods for those of you that know Spokane) but it is such a wealthy area that we do not like the values it is teaching our kids. If you don't have the latest electric scooter, pocket bike, etc. you are sooooo out, according to the neighbor kids. So anyway, we have joined 4H, are raising pigs (at friends property until we can make the move ourselves) and reinventing our lives. I love the rolling wheat fields and feel a sense of peace there like no other. I stay busy helping my husband with a publication we do out of our home and I put on Antique Shows twice a year. My antique show is called Past Blessings Antique Show. It was just this past weekend and went great. The weather was perfect, we had great vendors, good food and incredible bluegrass music by area bands. We even had some older people dancing to the music! In the Spring we plan to ad demos of old time handcrafts that need to be kept alive . . . such as spinning, tatting, rug hooking, quilting, soapmaking, candlemaking, woodworking, etc. Also, we are adding more and more outdoor vendors and want a "farmers market" and "street fair" feel, so if any of you are interested, contact me at PastBlessings@comcast.net. Aside from this, I stay busy being a wife and mom, with our church and keeping the homefront going. I look forward to getting to know each of you! God Bless!

Welcome, Brenda! Your Antique Show sounds marvelous - wish I didn't live so far away! That's such a wonderful thing you're doing for your children - driving all that distance so they'll be used to and comfortable in that school district when you move.

Thanks Miss Bee Haven! It is a wonderful antique show. I think because we are trying to keep the blessings of the past going. It is in an old grange with a great country feel. It isn't about being huge and commercial, but about sharing these values with others. As for the driving my kids so far each day, I have to admit it is an easy drive, because it is so beautiful! But the three hours we spend in driving all the different times to the school each day, will be nice to regain. The place we are hoping to get is terribly dated, but such a gorgeous setting and room for the animals and kids to be kids.

Thanks Jenny, I do feel a kindred spirit here. We may be 21st century women, but our hearts are a bit older than that!

Thanks Debbie! The 20 minutes of fame was great as it really increased attendence and helped vendors to see us as a more serious show (hmmm . . . we seem to have a lot of fun for a serious show! LOL!)
