You are cordially invited to partake in a "Tea & Crumpets Swap" I have recently had 3 of my 11 grandchildren living with me, and we have had so much fun that I wanted to continue it after they leave this weekend. We have practiced manners, ate crumpets, had many flavors of tea and honey, and even a few celebrities came to join our fun. (Our neighbor, we cosider her the Queen), and a very famous rabbit, and Raggedy Ann. Sign ups will end April 15, and partners will be posted by April 17. Just be considerate of your farmgirl sister. The only thing I ask is that it does contain at least 4 different tea's, a handwritten card, and at least two other goodies. A few suggestions -a beautifull tea cup and saucer (new or vintage), flavored honey or sugar, a fun vintage hat or gloves, some crumpets or snacks. I love vintage old things and incorporate them in my tea parties.Use your imagination. Above all have fun. I hope to do more o
f this one if it goes well. If you have any questions just email me.Ladies please make sure you can make the time frames so that everyone gets their packages on time. I so appreciate that.

Hi Tiana,

I was just thinking about hosting a Tea Party Swap. I thought of about the same rules as you and Judy have. I would love to join in. I have a girlfriend who has had Friday evening Victorian Tea Parties with all her grand-daughters for years. They dress up with hats, gloves, etc. Their Grandma has collected fancy cups, plates, severing trays, tablecloths, dollies etc. They have special food, a great time and spend the night.

Lavender Shortbread
adapted from this award-winning recipe
makes 15 flower shapes

¾ cup (2.25 oz) icing (confectioner’s) sugar
1 tbsp dried lavender
140g unsalted butter, cut into cubes
1 tsp lemon zest
1¾ cup (8.5 oz) plain all-purpose flour
3 large egg yolks
1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Whisk the confectioner’s sugar and lavender together in a bowl.
Add the butter, lemon zest and lavender/sugar mixture to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix until smooth and light in colour.
Add the flour and mix until well combined.
Add the egg yolks and mix just until the eggs are fully incorporated and a mass forms.
Form the dough into a disk and chill in the refrigerator until firm (about 30 minutes).
Roll the dough out to 1.5cm thickness.
Cut the dough with a cookie cutter.
Toss each cut cookie in a bowl of granulated sugar to coat.
Place the sugar-coated cookie on a parchment lined pan.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until slightly golden around the edges.

Tiana,

Glad you had a good weekend. Yes, the swap seems to be going well. I feel it has ended up being more than a swap. I posted on there if anyone wants to post a prayer request there to feel free to do so as a couple of our sisters already have. Prayer really does change things! And God is so good to us!

Have a sweet day and we will talk soon!

Hugs,

Judy

Hi Tiana..

I would love to participate in this Swap.

I love tea parties.. Was going to have one for my winter vacation friends, but plans fell through this year. So.. I guess I am having Tea Party Separation Anxiety !! Can't wait for the fun to start!

Mary and Alissa, thank you so much for joining the fun. In my minds eye we ladies will all be sitting around a table having tea and crumpets, and a fabulous time.

I believe so too Judy, my comp was down yesterday so just getting back on. This is going to be an awesome swap. I went to the antique store yesterday looking at a few things for my package. I am so excited for this. My grandaughter keeps asking me is it time? lol

This is a link on how to make a tea bag wallet. Very nice for carrying your tea with you wherever you go. Looks simple enought too.
