I lived in a 27 ft trailer for most of my childhood. There were three of us kids, two adults, no hot water, and no "facilities." That was almost the norm. We lived in courts with laundry rooms, showers, tubs, and bathrooms. We hauled our hot water from the laundry rooms and heated it up more in the trailer. Since it seemed normal at the time, it was possible. Where in the West are you going to locate? I hope it has sensible temperatures so the kids can play outside--hopefully in a fenced yard.
Good luck. It is a good way to save money to place on your permanent residence. We lived through a blizzard in Nebraska and hot temperatures in Oregon/Washington. It all worked out and we kids turned out normally. Not so bad when you have a goal in mind.
