I love it! I've had braided rags sitting in a bag for nearly a year, with the intention of making them into a rag rug. It was meant for my baby's nursery, but I just have never got around to it yet. All the real work is done; I just need to sew it together. I think you've just jump started me to get it finished. Thanks!

oh and Kris, I like your clever idea of using a 'tic-tac' container to hold bobby pins... perfect purse size. I have been using a magnetic paper clip holder, it sits perfect in my make-up drawer so I can easily pull out or insert a bobby pin.

What a great piece of Americana art! Braided rugs have such a long and important role in homes in America through the ages. You did a wonderful job!

Kristina, thanks for the info on the rag rug. I might even start one as I get material for next winter. Too close to spring for me to start one now, as my time will be gardening and sales at farmers markets. I am excited to get making these though.

your blog gives hope that it might be something i could do! thanks for sharing! when i was little, my (adopted)mom and dad were given some wonderful rag placemats that i still have!they were done on a loom and have the threads hanging as "fringe" on the ends....they are a comfort to me but are packed away in michigan at my (birth)mothers..can't wait to get them home!
