Howdy Farmgirl Knitters!
I just met the author* of the lovely new book for kids, "Knitting Nell," last week and learned all about her new project. Is anyone knitting up a new scarf for winter? Or looking for a new project to start? Consider the good scarf project! From her web site:

"The good scarf project is a fun, low-cost philanthropic knitting activity for anyone!
It's a unique blend of:
low-tech, hands-on, yarn-and-needles knitting
high-tech "virtual" knitting (knitted segments of the scarf are "knit" together electronically on the web site)
no-tech metaphorical knitting (everyone and their good efforts are knit together in an online community over the course of one year)
There are many wonderful charitable knitting efforts in full force and the good scarf project is inspired by all of them. But it is different ... it is designed to honor many different kinds of goodness all at the same time ... and offers an easy and engaging way to connect with others.
Something good can be:
a good thought (knitting each stitch for peace)
a good cause (a charitable organization, maybe in your community, or maybe even in your school)
