1-28 Prune to discourage growth.

I adore reading through the Almanac over and over again. I purchase the Southern Edition and have collected them for years. A few years ago, the weather forecast for Texas was spot on in September when we had Hurricane Ike hit.

One of the best compliments from one of my daughters: "Moma, you smell good...like dirt."

Catherine, I pruned my Knockout roses about three weeks ago. Today, I saw new buds already. I can't wait for Spring!

Marly, you did good...my almanac had 'prune to encourage growth' earlier this month. :)

I don't put much trust in all the almanac says....it's just fun to read and follow if I have time.

Today is full of things to do/don't do:
Quit smoking
Begin to diet to lose weight
Have dental care
Plant belowground crops
Harvest belowground crops
Wean animals or children

Catherine, I had one of those to do/don't list, also! Most of the do's on it had to do with cooking. My hubby says he is on a diet. I keep wondering why I'm cooking!
I hope you were able to do at least one or two from your list.

Today, the almanac advises to:

Kill plant pests (I think I'll do this one)
Buy a car (Nope, won't be doing this one)
Host a party (Woo Hoo!! Let's definitely do this one)

Today, in the almanac....

Cut firewood (in one of MJ's recent magazines, her daughter depicted the smart farmgirl way to split wood)
Cut hair for growth (I actually did cut my hubby's hair this morning. But, I certainly don't want it to grow faster. ugh)
Mow to increase growth (I guess grass is like hair? hee hee)
Dig holes (shoot, I dig holes just about every day, whether it's fence post holes or garden plant holes)
Wax floors (NOT!)
