This is the class I took - knitting lace. The pattern is Feather and Fan. I'm really just trying to see if I can post a picture...hope this works!

Well, it worked but it's a bit distorted looking. I probably tried to make it too small - didn't want to use up so much room.

| BlueApple, that is beautiful! I also knit and am looking forward to learning to crochet with rags. I have not learned lace knitting yet. Where I live I am basically limited to Micheals for instructions and classes. Since they have to have a minimum of 6 for some classes am I often disappointed when the class has to be cancelled. Do you ever go to www.knittinghelp.com? The gal on there is great in showing how to's. Anyway your work is gorgeous! |

It is VERY pretty Julia!! how neat that you learned such a pretty stitch!! What color is the yarn? (looks cream in the picture..but I know how pictures can be with changing how a color looks) just curious. I LOVE it. You did a great job so far!

Jenny, it's much lighter in color...more oatmealish (is that a word?), and the yarn was a linen blend.

I've used the feather and fan pattern a lot in my knitting. I've used it for scarves with everything from lace-weight to chunky yarns, and then I use it in wraps as well. It's a great lace pattern to know...
Another one you may want to play around with is this:
*k2tog,yo* I've used it in scarves and shawls as well. It opens up really nice. I'd probably k2, then do the pattern as wide as you want the thing to be, then k2 at the end of the row. It gives it a nice edging.

This is a shawl I made using the lace pattern I just gave you- it's cotton yarn and some sort of novelty yarn.

Kim, it's absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for the pattern..I'll have to give it a try! I'm taking another lace class the beginning of November where we will learn to read/follow a chart. Hoping it's not too advanced for me.

I've been knitting for five or six years now, and I rarely will attempt anything that has a pattern. Usually I make my own up. I'm afraid that I'll screw it up! :) I'm just now attempting a sweater- I have two on the needles. And even those I'm adapting to suit my needs. I really like circular needles and knitting in the round, so when I see a sweater I like I try and figure out how to do it in the round. One of the two I'm working on is called Klaralund, and so far it's pretty simple- just straight knitting, but in the round I won't have to worry about seaming and getting all the parts to match up. The other one is one I started in the summer to be a short sleeved sweater, but I didn't really like it.Last night I picked it up to frog it and realized that it would make a really good long sleeved sweater, so I started knitting on it again. It's from a basic design that allows you to create it to match your size and shape, and add whatever bells and whistles you want. Pretty cool.

I just love the "oatmealish" colored lace! I am still a "scarf-knitting" level knitter, and I so love to see the beautiful things you all are creating...
