This is the blue jean quilt that I started a few weeks ago for my hubby. All by hand. I have had a pile of our old torn up jeans for several years now and always wanted to make a quilt tith them. Also had a big piece of blue jean fabric I had gotten at a thrift store a few years back that was the perfect size for the back. I had no idea that batting was so expensive now. It's been a few years since the lst quilt I made. I got pure cotton and it was $20 at Hobby Lobby.
And it's finished! Just this morning I stitched the rest of the border and threw it in the washer. I had to do a little touch-up sewing but it help together really well.
I am quite proud of myself for doing this. I was inspired by Maria over on Full Moon Fiber Arts. I love her blog. She makes so many beautiful things out of mostly scrap fabrics. She is a great inspiration to me. So whenever I thought I didn't want to do anymore and wait til next year to finish it, I'd go look at her blog again. And It's all done now, thanks to her. Now I am ready to make some more. But my fingers really are sore from getting pricked a million times. And I use my fingernails to push the needle through so they hurt. Blue jean fabric is tough stuff!
Thanks for looking! And I hpe this inspires others to make a hand made quilt from scraps you have laying around the house.

I have to admit that there were whole lot of words that shouldn't have been said in the making of this quilt. There. I feel much better. But there is a whole lotta love too.

Great job! Blue Jeans are very hard to sew thru. I made a blue jean quilt for my son, and boy were my finger tips sore.

Thank you all. I did have fun making it and it kept me busy. And I know it will keep my hubby warm out there when it's so cold. Now I am looking for something else to make. It's been so wet and dreary and depressing lately I just want to go hibernate til spring. I even have all the curtains closed so I don't have to see all the water out there. But I am not the only one that's flooding. So I think I'll start some scarves for the grands.

Wonderful quilt! I admire anyone who quilts jean fabrics by hand, it is tough on the fingers.

No, I cannot use a thimble. So I use my fingernails. And they are still a little sore. Thimbles are kind of like gloves to me. Can't wear them either.
My hubby left yesterday and I talked to him awhile ago. He was very warm last night and it got down to 28 where he was.

You really did a wonderful job on that quilt. I have a couple of unfinished ones but they were machine made. I know you put a lot of work and love into that one.
