Lookee, lookee what showed up in my mailbox yesterday!!!!!

Twenty-one women have wrapped me in their arms forever.

But first, a bit of a story. Sitting here on my desk is an Internet page I printed from anthropologie.com on 10/15/12. Actually, I’d found their crochet/knit “quirky heirloom throw” sometime in June when I was in one of their stores, but the price tag had kept me from buying it. Back home, I couldn’t get it off my mind. So eventually, I went online, found it there, and printed it. A girl can dream, right? To be honest, I wanted a homemade version of it, thinking maybe someday I’d make one. The idea of a “quirky heirloom throw” in mismatched colors that perfectly matches the new sitting couch in my new mismatched kitchen continued to call to me. Unbeknownst to me and unbeknownst to 21 women, we were already “collaborating” on a “Farmgirl Collaborative Afghan”—even better!!!!!!

Can you tell I’m in love?

Oh, the colors!!!!!

The goodwill. The memories I’ll have forever.

The way it makes me f-e-e-l.

I love my sisters. I love how quirky we are. I love how heirloom we are. I love the way we throw our arms around each other. Thanks for the most amazing surprise EVAH, girlfrens !!!!! And love to Diane Van Horn, Fiddlehead Farm, Sister #922, for stitching us all TOGETHER.

I find the story of the Anthropologie Afgan to be amusing...a little bird told me you would like the eclectic mix! I told all the Farmgirls that contributed to just have carte'blanche when it came to yarn and design! I think it turned out great and really love the pictures! Merry Christmas to a most deserving Mother Hen! You look beautiful all wrapped up in Farmgirl Hugs!

Aw, MaryJane, you wear it well! Be assured that those of us who weren't confident enough yarn magicians to contribute to this project think very fondly of you, too. You've created a great big place of love in the world. It doesn't get better than that in anyone's curriculum vitae. Thank you <3

Diane who all worked on it do you have names with squares?

It is so great I even picked up some yarn to try and make something but alas I can't knit or crochet.

Excellent JOB!!!!!!!!!!

MaryJane, that is beautiful and you look good wrapped in it. Do you remember the quilt squares we did back in 2005 or 06 and sent you and you had a quilt made? Could you, would you, post a picture of it. Thanks MaryBeth. I used to be sister 46. Could I be again??? MB

Hi Mary Beth!

I used our search function and found photos of it here on the chatroom, actually THEM. There were two redwork quilts completed in 2006:
http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4925

Scroll through all five pages for both photos. Gorgeous!!!! What a wonderful project that was.

My son, Brian, is on break now until Jan. 7 but when he returns, you can write or call him with your sisterhood number question.

I have the quilts tucked away in my attic but they do travel with me on occasion for farmgirl chapter functions.

Merry Christmas Mary Beth!!!

When I got all the squares together, I laid them out and thought to myself that I should have had a color theme. How are all these very diverse squares going to look good all together? Well I started in the center and worked my way out and found that it all worked out in the end. It is just like the Farmgirl Sisterhood...a group of very different women from all over the country with various colors and diverse backgrounds but when you put them all together they can be glorious!

Wow! That is so beautiful! And it really looks good outside in the snow. But I know it would be the best on your sofa or bed. Snuggly! Great job all who made it!
