When I now go to a subject that I want to read sometimes there are words that are red and when you click on them I get an advertisement. Did I change something here It comes up as Text enhanced . I can only hope because I really want it gone.

Can you give me a link or otherwise direct me to one of the topics where you're seeing this, please? |

Diane, The afghan is beautiful. I think your choice of colors is much better. I especially like the white. It pops out at you and looks more snowy. ~Blessings~ Jenne This one was in the Stitching and craft area about Diane Fiddle head farms completed Afghan.

Found it. http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=61171
But... I'm not seeing any links at all in the text of that specific post you mention. On that whole page, there are the occasional links in a post that came from someone's signature, but those all link to those user's specific pages of some sort or another, and I wouldn't call them ads.
I was afraid that might be the case. Are there any other sites like this you go to regularly? If so, are there links in text that have shown up recently on those sites?
I would have someone local to you have a look at your computer to see whether it's become infested with some sort of malware. I have to guess that something unpleasant is injecting those links into the page after it is opened on your computer. *** Definitely don't click any of those links! ***
For comparison, here's a screenshot of 4 selected posts as I'm seeing them. You should be able to see there's no red, no links at all, except the one at the bottom in the signature of texdane (one of our own farmgirl blogs and bloggers) which is teal, since I've visited that page.
Does this seem distinctly different than what you're seeing? |

No way I can tell without looking at it. I don't see any odd files on our web server, and I don't see that any have been suspiciously changed or updated inordinately.
I do have an idea.
When on a page where you see the links, right-click and select "View Source" or something similar. Then, if you can see how, save that file as pagesource.txt ... OR ... Hit CTRL + A (or select all text in the new page that opens). Copy (CTRL + C) all that text, then Paste (CTRL + V) it into a new Notepad document or equivalent program. (It'd be best if it's not Word, but if that's what you know how to get into, that'll probably work.) Send the file you save as an attachment to webmaster@maryjanesfarm.org
Also, tell me in the email which browser you're using, and gather for me a list of the "add-ons" that are installed in it. For example, if you're using Internet Explorer 9, you would go to the little gear icon in the upper right, click on it, and select "Manage Add-Ons".
You should see a window like this pop-up:
Select everything listed in "Toolbars and Extensions", copy and paste that list and include it in the email to me.
I wouldn't expect to see anything list itself there that would be injecting stuff into a website, but you never know. It may be some thing like a "Toolbar Helper" or other such that's inserting ads or "search result" help into pages. But if it's truly only our forum, I don't know why that would be either. |

Thanks Gabe found it and removed it. You saved me a trip to the big city and about $100.00 dollars so what kind of cookies do you want?

Awesome! I'm glad you found it. *whew*
The satisfaction of knowing that I was on the right track is pretty much reward enough. (Although I never mind a helping of peanut butter cookies... ;)
Out of curiosity, what was the name of the extension that you removed? |
