Have two baking sheets full of homemade berry and almond granola in the oven and am drinking a mug of hot apple cider. The sight, the smells, and the tastes of fall. Ah, life doesn't get much better than this.

Homemade Berry/Almond Granola

½ cup maple syrup or agave nectar
4 cups rolled cut oats
2 cups slivered almonds
1 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. nutmeg
½ cup warm water
1 tsp. vanilla
½ cup+ dried cranberries, dried cherries, dried blueberries or mix any dried fruits to your liking.

Set oven to 300 and grease two cookie sheets.
Stir together oats, almonds, cinnamon, & nutmeg.
In a separate bowl, mix maple syrup or agave nectar, water, and the vanilla.
Slowly pour liquid mixture over the oat and nuts mixture, stir until well mixed.
Spread the mixture onto the cookie sheets in an even layer.
Bake for 30 minutes, (stirring mixture every 10 minutes).
Pour granola back into large bowl and add the dried fruit, stir to combine.
Put mixture back onto cookie sheets to cool.

This granola lasts in an airtight container for one week or if refrigerated, lasts a month.
I used a mixture of dried fruits from the health foods store and added way over a cup. This granola is very forgiving and adaptable to your inclusion of favorite nuts, seeds, & berries.
By buying the oats and the nuts in bulk at the health food store I saved a lot of money. I used chopped almonds as the store was out of slivered almonds. As I am a diabetic I used agave nectar which I had never heard of before. I found it at the store in the sugar substitute aisle. Added the granola to my yogurt for breakfast and it was delicious.
