Jenne, I'm not far from you and we keep ours at 66 all the time. Floors get cold, but I just keep socks on, and a big white fluffy heavy quilt on my bed at night. We also have a fireplace downstaris that we run at night to take the chill off. I can't take it too hot or I get stuffed up.

69-71 day and night. I don't like it too warm, mainly because it gets incredibly dry in the house and we get sore throats. We also have a wood fireplace, but that only heats up the family room...:) |

We were keeping ours at 67, but changed to 65 after super cold snap was over. We also supplement with the fire place because it has blowers that move the air around better. I am hoping we will have that early spring ol' Phil predicted so that we can turn the heat pump off all together and just use the fire place. The only drawback is the master bath gets REALLY cold! We use flannels sheets and lots of wool blankets. We also have a few fuzzy acrylic blankets in the family room for curling up on the couch with. As for the floors - socks and slippers.

Lately, it has been set at 60 during the night and around 62 - 64 during the day. Sweaters, sweatshirts, cozy socks and comfy throws keep the chill off during waking hours, and at night we use layers of cozy flannel sheets, down blankets, quilts and comforters - any combination, as needed; sometimes all four! :)

70 at night, 72 in daytime. I keep bedroom closed to keep cats out, or else I can't sleep. I don't want them to freeze. If it get's very cold, like in the teens, I turn fireplace on and leave bedroom door open. I keep telling hubby to put a sweater on. The power company actually penalizes when people don't use power. Last fall it was in the 50's-60's and I turned heat off at 9 am and not back on til 6pm. Our bill went up! :(

Pretty much 68 around the clock... My mother came to stay with us recently, and her room tends to be cooooollllllddddd! Sometimes I bump it up hoping to heat that room more, but I think we're going to break down and buy a space heater for her. It's awful in there, and I feel horrible making her sleep in that chill. Especially since she came up here from Florida!!

I must be a wimp. We keep out thermostat at 70 day and night. And even then I'm usually wearing long sleeves and a hoodie.

I moved from a small apartment where my gas bill was about $8 to a large mobile home last October and when the cold snap hit and we had 29 degrees in the morning, I was running my heater at 67. My gas bill was ridiculously ten times what it was at the apartment!!!!
Now I leave the thermostat at 60 at night and close my bedroom door. Space heaters are great since my electric bill is only a fraction of my gas bill, so I warm up the room, turn off the space heater, and hop under the covers. That works for me. Keep warm, girls. Terri |

We keep our oil furnance on 65 when we are home, 60 at night when we go to bed. But we have a woodstove in our livingroom so, depending on how cold or warm it is, it can make the house 75 some days. We also have three windows that are huge, almost the size of a patio door so we open the curtains before we go to work, the sun helps a lot.

I keep my house about 58 at night and about 62 during the day. Sometimes I might turn it up to 65 but that's rare. There is just me and the dogs in this house and we all like it a bit cool.

We turn ours off, and it stays off for most of the day as well, unless it's cold outside to me. I'm rather hot-natured and over-heat easily, so it's just safer to leave it off.

I kid you not... ours has been set at 60 degrees round the clock since the chill first set in last fall. Somehow, we've gotten used to it. I thank God, too, after all the sub-zero weather we have had this winter. Even though we've had the heat set so low, our gas bills have been outrageous!

we keep ours at 65 day and night. We cannot go any lower with an infant in the house!!! I was hoping we would save money on electric this winter with it "that low," but with our crazy winter, it has still run quite a bit.

We have an old Radiant Favorite propane heater from the 20's or 30's and if it's really cold, we'll build a fire. It's usually around 65 degrees in the house and when it gets colder I start complaining. That's when I get told to put on a sweatshirt, lol!

We're 72º during the day, 62º during the night. Otherwise, it get too cold. New highly efficient furnace has made all the difference in our house. Love it.

At night we set the temp at 65 and usually leave the windows open unless it's raining. |

Terri, you're funny! I guess you set it with an alarm clock to wake you up to go put more wood on.
This was an interesting thread to bump back up. During the winter, our temps get down in the 30's (which isn't that cold compared to most of y'all). We keep the temp around 60-65. I'd probably like it higher but I don't like the high propane bill. Our summers are brutal with temps at 90 degrees at night. I keep my house cool between 65-70. We definitely have a high electric bill during the summer.
This is definitely something I think about as I consider going off the electric grid or onto solar. I'm not so concerned about the winter because we have a fireplace that we could use. But I don't know how I'd keep our house cool in the summers.

65 all the time but supplement with a wood insert in the family room. I closed off the vent in the bedroom and I put a thermometer in there the other day. It was 45. The dog sleeps on the bed with us and the cat is under the covers. I can't stand a warm bedroom. I closed the window about a month ago.
