We are fine at my house, but most of my DH's coworkers in NY do not have power and it is day 12. It is cold and we got 9 inches of snow Wednesday. Gas is being rationed now in NY, and if it keeps up, it will be rationed here in CT, too. DH says all around the area he works are military trucks. Traffic is outrageous due to gas lines and closed roads(it took my DH two and a half hours to get home yesterday, and his coworker who lives in NY left at 5:00 and got home at 1:00)and there is so much damage. Please keep those in Sandy's aftermath in your prayers, they really need it.

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

HI Nicole!
Personaly, I was VERY lucky in the storm, only lost power for 4 hours here, and hour there etc & we had everything else (internet/phone/cable) back within 5 days. All around Long Island is devastation as you have said. Friends of ours just got power back TODAY- day 12 as you pointed out. Yes we have the gas rations now- so tomorrow I will try and find gas since it is an "even" day and I have an even license plate number.
So many have come together to help so many in need, which really warms my heart. Out of the disaster, there is definately some good.
Of course the Nor'Easter we got yesterday didnt brighten any spirits, but luckily it is supposed to warm up nicely and be a beautiful weekend. Lord knows everyone can use some brightness and warmth right about now!
Thank you to everyone for their positive thoughts, good wishes and prayers. So many need it now.
Hugs,

~Laurie

My prayers are with those involved. I can't imagine the situation, stress, frustration and devastation.
I DO know how it is to lose your home (totally) to a fire and have no place to live, have to clean up the mess and start all over.

and need prayers even now, as
some people have lost everything
and life for them will never be the same
i was very blessed that i only lost power
for a week there are people who still have no

Deborah, so glad to hear you are okay. Will keep all in your state and NY in my prayers. I get alot of firsthand info from my DH when he gets home from work. Being just without power for so long is hard, let alone to lose so much that so many have. There's lots of different drives in my community to help with some of the losses. That's a positive - seeing people helping each other.

Hugs,
Nicole

I had to turn off the news. My heart is sick and I couldn't stop crying. The devastation is overwhelming. I can't imagine living thru this and I am Tough. We made it out of Boston in about 4 inches of snow and you couldn't see anything from I-95 but we knew it was there. So glad Farmgirls are OK. Nicole, I had no idea that Sandy hit so far inland. So glad you are safe. Long commute for DH. Did Audrey get to do Halloween? Thinking of you. Joey

hi everyone, I am from Staten Island where we were hit pretty bad. I just wanted to say "THANK YOU" to all of you for your well wishes. My mom is one of the residents that live in Midland Beach, Fr. Capadanno Blvd, that was completely distroyed. She is 85 yrs. old and can't deal with this. She just cries all the time. Please say prayers for my mother that she gets out of her depression and realizes "material things are replaceable, but not lives". My family and I are one of the fortunate ones that didn't lose a loved one. Thank you for all you do at Mary Janes.

Hi Joey, Yes, Audrey got to do Halloween...despite Halloween being cancelled in our town (second year in a row), she got to dress up and the town of Southbury did store-to-store trick or treating, we went to a Halloween party the Friday and then the Saturday before, and our town did the Main street trick or treating the following Sunday, so she is happy as she did quite a bit. I worried about you driving home. Please give those beautiful grandbabies of yours a big hug from me! How did your granddaugher's recital go?

Joan: Oh I am so sorry to hear about your poor mom and her loss. I can't imagine. I am emailing you now.

Farmgirl hugs,
Nicole

Oh Joan, your poor Momma. How stressful. I hope she is a tea drinker-sometimes tea settles my nerves. Please know that you are all in our prayers. Wish I ccould bring you soup. That helps me too. I'm making bean soup tomorrow.
Nicole, SO glad to hear that Audrey got to do so much trick or treating. Sounds like she had fun. Katie lost her first pagent, which was he point. She was a gracious loser. She didn't cry until she got off the stage and she never threw the fit we were expecting. She still loves it and is wanting to do the Christmas pagent. UGH! Joey

Hi Friends,

Joan, I am so sorry about your mom's situation. I am sending good thoughts and prayers as she adjusts to her new circumstances. What a hard time for all of you. Deborah, I am so glad to hear that you are OK and that you power is back on. My son, David, is in school in Hoboken NJ and it has been a long two weeks, but he is doing OK and life is somewhat back to normal at this point. His street/ground floor of his building were badly flooded and he lost power for a few days. The mother of one of his room mates drove back into Hoboken just to pick David up and take him to her home in upstate NY. She had never met my son, just couldn't stand the idea of her son's roommate, so far from home and family, sitting in a dark, cold apartment by himself. I was very touched by her kindness to my son. There are so many good people in the world : )

I'm so sorry for your Mom, Joan. I will definitely be praying for her, may God bless her precious heart. And I will continue to pray for all the people affected by this. I'm so glad to know you are all okay. And I am so thankful, Pam, that your son is safe and warm with a lovingkind family. I am so, so heartbroken for the victims. It must seem like an eternity waiting for relief right now. I pray it won't be too much longer.

Hi Nini,

There's lots of collection boxes around here in local stores (Big Y) and schools. Let me see if I can find an address to mail items to directly help those affected.

Hi sisters, just a quick update on my mom. She is doing better with her depression. I actually found a Senior Home that is taking new comers (only for those who lost their living arrangements from Sandy}. So I took my mom there on Tuesday and it is beautiful! She will be moving into the new apartment sometime next week. But the best part is she will be closer to my house than before. Our prayers were answered. Thank You!
