Ok, so the battle is very one sided and my one year old wins...a lot. How do/did you ladies handle the screaming wiggling little ones? It isn't occasionally, it is every time. I try distraction. Two seconds, not enough to get the old diaper off, let alone all the snaps from the cloth diapers. This has been happening for months now, and I am just not sure how to change him without the battle. It isn't just me, it's for anyone that changes him.
Any thoughts?

My phone worked for awhile then I "needed" my daughters to hold things, the diaper the diaper cream whatever. Girls are much easier at trying to please. I did resort to a pinch once on my second. I fibbed and said I didn't mean to but if she wiggled a lot and I might hurt her "on accident" ( very tiny pinch I promise, she didn't get red or anything). She never moved after that. I got the idea from my motherinlaw who really did accidentally stick one of her kids with a diaper pin once. After weeks of losing the battle I gave in and pinched a little. It worked great but I did feel bad. I certainly don't resort to "hands on" approaches lightly.

I would give my kids a book to look at or a toy to play with when it was diaper changing time.

I guess I will open my mouth and share what my daughter did...she has 4 boys 8,7,4 & 18 months...with all that energy, she needed to do something...at 6-8 months of age. she would tell them a firm no and tap their little thigh with her 2 fingers, enough to get their attention, after getting their attention AND A WEE BIT OLDER, she would then tell them no(very firmly)...and then use something on that same little chubby thigh to really get their attention, it has worked, but, she was attentive AND CARRIED THROUGH, not once could she not do this, or the battle would be lost. now when us Grandmas change their diapers, they hold perfectly still without any trouble...YEA!!! for that trraining....

:) Things have mellowed some and for the most part I can get him changed without the chase. Dad has more trouble but dad is a softy.
