Tomorrow night the computer will be turned off until I get back from the farm or if something else changes before then...Just want to say I will miss you all & you all have been very special to me this last few years.....You have brought me joy, lots of laughs & smiles, a few tears & just good ole advice..........When things are confusing I knew if I came here I would be welcomed & not judged......many of you I have grown to love & treasure........I have addresses for some of you so do expect letters from me....but I will miss being able to come here whenever I want or need to.....Thank you all for being here for me...& I will hopefully be back after a year or so off grid.....Michele'

Oh Michele,
How I hate to read this post. While I am happy that you are off on a new adventure, I am sad that we will not have your here on the farm!
I wish you nothing but the best, and I do have your New York address, so I will try and keep in touch that way. I am so interested in your journey that you are about to embark on- I give you credit for taking the leap and going for it- you are definaely an inspiration!
I know you will do well, and will learn and grow from this experience.
God Bless you sister!
Hugs,

~Laurie

I did get a letter from Michele last week and she is getting all settled in with her chickens, getting everything ready before winter sets in. So, far the weather has been beautiful so she can do a lot of the outdoor things that needs to be done. She is cooking in the wood cook stove and loving it, if anyone was meant for this life it is Michele.
I will keep you posted and will let her know all of you are thinking of her.
Hugs,
Debbie

Yanno, actually, one of the nicest times of my life was when my fam and I lived in a teepee and did everything 'the hard way'. We had phones, of course, but could only watch broadcast TV with a generator. No DirectTV. We had to haul water because we found the water was too deep for a well. But, except for the ex being there, I thought it was fabulous. So quiet you could hear your heartbeat at times. So, in a way, I'm a little jealous of our BITB. Living that simply, absolutely NO tech, was fun and I still have good memories of it. If things go south in the country, I know I'm more than prepared to live no tech again.

Good luck to her and please keep us informed!! :-)

I received a nice long letter from Michele today, and she is doing great, as Deb said.
Her exact words in her letter were "Please tell all the Hens I am doing good , the kids are happy, and I am feeling much more peace here."
She spoke about the gentleman on the other side of the farm who she calls "Mr. Grumpy" but explained that she set him straight right from the get go and all is fine now.
She also talked about all of the work she has done outside, and has to do still, but is loving it. She has learned how to make pancakes on the woodstove, and fashioned a "grill" from an old cage door so she can cook other things. She has met the woman who used to own the farm "Lucy" who is 78 years old and packs some heat (carries a gun), and stops by when she sees Michele outside. The other day she brought her a butternut squash, which Michele cooked on the woodstove and enjoyed.
Sounds like she is doing well. She misses communicating with everyone here, but does not miss TV or any other "modern" convenience so far! She is enjoying the peace and quiet.

Just thought I would update with what I have.
Hugs,

~Laurie

I too got a long letter from Michele and just to add to what Laurie has shared, the lady that she met goes to town once a month to the Walmart and has ask Michele to go along. Michele was thrilled and is looking forward to the trip to get out for awhile be with other women of like mind and stock up on supplies. As Laurie says she seems happy and at peace and I personally feel better about her being on her own, it is not the first time she has lived off Grid so she knows what to do and what to expect. I am so happy for her and enjoy her newsy letters so much, farmgirls she is keeping a journal of her year off grid and will write another book about her experiences, so I am thrilled about that, I have already put in my order:-)
I continue to keep our very special farmgirl friend in my heart, thoughts and prayers and look forward to her letters, and I love writing letters to her about what is going on on all the forums.
Well, till our next update, have a beautiful weekend everyone.
Hugs,
Debbie

Has anyone heard from Michelle lately? I haven't been reading or posting lately and am embarrassed to admit that I haven't written to her in months. Any updates would be appreciated.
