Have you checked Sublime Stitching? http://www.sublimestitching.com/collections/patterns I'm stitching a pair of pillow cases for my sister & brother in law using the Day of the Dead pattern. There are a few there I would mark as being for a man.
I would also check Sublime stitching. They have some "pin-up" patterns--don't know if your son would like them, but a lot of guys would. Cindy

I've never embroidered on towels, but I have embroidered on handkerchefs. I embroidered the name/initials. I did this for my dad and husband. They were gifts from the kids to them.
Dead of the Dead would be a fun colorful one too. I'd love to see it when it's finished.

Deb, I'll work on that box as soon as I finish this last scarf. My youngest dd brought home orders for 4 team spirit scarves. This week is homecoming, so I hope she doesn't bring me any more - LOL!
