I am hosting my first Thirty One Open house on Wednesday! I am soooo scared. While I know I can handle this, my inner negativista keeps giving me doubts. While I have sold Avon for years, I have never done the "Home Party Shopping" kind of business.
Any suggestions on how to get Miss Negativista to shut up and let Miss Positivista out to shine?

I just did my first real party last Thursday for 31. Don't be nervous. I am a lot like you... I to sold Avon for years and this is my first attempt at direct sales. Honestly, they are more concerned about the bags then you. All you have to do is Smile, Be Polite and BREATHE! It will work out well. Good Luck!

Sherone - don't you worry! You'll do just fine! Just be yourself, talk about the things you love and why, and then ask what everyone else thinks/what their favorite bags are, etc. If you include everyone in the conversation, and make it feel very informal - like girlfriends getting together over a cup of coffee - they'll end up doing the show FOR you!!! LOL!! Trust me - you'll do wonderfully! Just think of it as a girl's night out where you all get excited about really cool things you've just discovered. It doesn't have to be a sales pitch - once you show how great a few of your favorite items are, the awesome quality of your products, and the different ways they can be used or save money, you'll be golden. Have fun and remember you're amongst friends. They already know you, they love you, and they are there to support you! Everything else will fall into place, I promise! Besides, Christmas is coming - everyone needs to buy a gift or two... why not from you? And, even better, why not earn them at a discount or even for free by having a few girlfriends over for a cup of coffee at their place and having an "informal" get-together of their own, too? Everyone wins!
You'll be fine... honest. Just relax and have fun! Your enthusiasm will be infectious - uh, er, in a good way, of course! :)

Thanks, girls! I'm all prepared and have all the treats prepared. I'm nervous, but very committed to making this business a success.
Yart, it's nice to know there is another thirty-one girl here. We can bounce ideas off each other. For example, are you planning on doing any craft shows or such? If so, what are your ideas for booth design?

I would love to do craft shows... I think I'm going to purchase the thirty-one table cloth and then just stack everything on the table. Maybe even set it up like some of the things in the book. Like putting the double and single organizers in the xxl utility tote and having the top a tote sitting next to it. What are some of your thought on that?

Rachel,
My sponsor and I are doing Santa's Workshop which is in November. Our booth is 10 x 10. We are planning to set up a piece of lattice at the back of the booth and hang bags on each side with a big Thirty-one sign in the middle. We are going to set up tables on each side of the booth for more displays. We have made a prize wheel that we will spin if someone books a party or makes a purchase. That's our ideas so far.

Dear Sherone,
I work retail at Cracker Barrel and I find that if you have good product knowledge and you like what you are selling then you will be able to sell your product and have fun too! Sometimes the products are so good that they sell themselves. Just have fun with it and enjoy your party!

It actually turned out pretty good. I must say that i think I rocked it! I was a little nervous when people started showing up, but they were nice ladies. It was alot of fun and I know more than I thought I did. You guys were right about the products selling themselves. I just did my little speel and the bags did the rest.

Glad your party was a success. I started in September too and had my first party October 12. It was a success and I am ready to go for more. I like the products, and the specials are great. I hope to get more bookings soon.
