My son got his first buck last night during Youth Deer Hunt. In our area of the country it is a huge rite of passage to get your first buck. He bagged a beautiful 6 pointer.

I am so proud of him. He stayed up the entire night and helped skin and process the meat into the freezer.

He is one excited young man.

I am trying to be the person my dogs think I am.

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Oooh! YUM! What a great first kill! I'm so happy for him - and really impressed that he stayed up all night to help with the processing! AWESOME! He must've been so proud! I can see why you are, too, Arttie! Kudos to him! Hugs - Nini

Thanks Everyone. He is a great kid. He is #4 in our clan of kids. He is just turning 13. This was his first year to hunt. And he is hooked. He loved everything about it. I was surprised he even like the skinning and processing. We do it all ourselves, so it can get pretty gruesome, but he stuck with us the whole time.

Of course, his rack will be mounted and hung in his bedroom.

Wow! What a big one for a first time. Congrats to your son. :) Will you be mounting the head for him?

Nicole,

We will mount the rack. And he can hang it in his room.
