#65532;I am a 69 year old disabled farm wife and retired special education teacher. My friend who is 66 and disable and I knit for charity. We knit thru a group known as Hillsboro Church of Christ Knitwitters. We also knit for our local elementary students who need it. We knit for the homeless (lap robes, hats, scarves, donate gloves), chemo hats, babies (blankets, sweaters, hats, etc.), for nursing homes (laprobes), and soldiers (helmet liners, laprobes, hats, scarves), and for elementary students who need hats (donate gloves). However, we are running out of yarn and we have used our own stash and yarn that has been donated to us for the past 3 or 4 years. We have just finished 100 hats for needy school children in our area. If anyone has yarn that they want to see used in such a work of service to others, please mail yarn to Gayle Gilmer, 4042 Lost Creek Rd., Lobelville, TN 37097. We cannot use yarn that has been chewed on by animals, but any other type of yarn would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Gayle, you and your friends are awesome! i don't actually have any yarn myself, but there are several thrift stores near where i live and i can get yarn for cheap at them. i will check things out and try and put together a box for you. it may take me a bit, but i would like to help with your mission.

Gayle, you and your friend sound like such blessings! I just cleaned out my craft drawer and have several skeins ready to go. I'll get a box out this week.

We are still needing yarn if anyone can send any. God Bless all who have sent yarn, but we are down to less than enough to make 50 hats. It goes so fast.
2 skeins of 14 oz. worsted weight makes 3 adult male, 3 adult female, 3 childs, and maybe scaps for another hat or baby afghan.
