It's been an interesting few days here on the ranch!

It started with us bringing home a Shetland Sheep ewe/ewe lamb pair. They are Moorit (brown) and black, respectively.

They are friendly but not cuddlers, and they are going to town on our weeds, which is exactly why we got them!

Dierks is enjoying having a job again, since the yaks gave him a pink slip a couple months ago.

Then yesterday I found that I lost my first litter of Silver Fox buns as they were kindled in the night. That was a sad day :(

BUT I went out to the stock trailer today, and what did I find? DUCKLINGS! Ducky's eggs are hatching a full 2 weeks late! I thought for sure they were going to die in the eggs or hatch with disabilities, but the first two are just perfect and 2 more had pipped :D

And right now I have eggs in lockdown/hatching in my incubator.

All-in-all, not a bad few days for us. The sheep are adjusting quite well to life in my backyard. We're looking forward to a re-try litter of bunnies in a month, and watching all these babies grow up big and strong!

They're fun :) And they're more down-to-business about the weeds than the goats were :)

Whats a silver fox bun? Is it a bunny? Sorry to hear things didn't work out for them, but what a bunch of blessings at your place otherwise. Pretty animals Natalie.

Yes, Silver Fox rabbits are an American heritage breed of commercial type. They come in black, blue, chocolate, and lilac and they get silver points on their hair, so when you get pelts, they are close in appearance to the arctic fox :)

I am new to rabbits, so I take full responsibility for the failure. It was over 100 degrees the day before she kindled, her box was a little small for her hefty size, and she had seemed stressed for 2 days. I think one of the kits got stuck and I didn't know to check her out sooner :(

But, hopefully in a month everything will go as planned, and I'll be able to share some baby bunny pics with you all :) And yes, I'm very blessed here!
