Hello! I am new to the farmgirl forum. My son is 9 mos. old. We use cloth diapers during the day, and as he has increased his solids consumption in the last month or so, his diapers are gross. I rinse out the "number two" diapers before putting them in the pail, and I have taken to putting a third cup of vinegar in the bag; this works pretty well. Any other suggestions?

borax thats what I use, plus a little bit of 7th gen. laundry soap.

do you have a hand held bidet attached to your toilet for rinsing?

Ah, Borax. I'll try using some of that. We use shaklee's cleaning products. their nature bright laundry additive is incredible.

No, no bidet. I simply hold onto the diaper and flush. A bidet would use less water though...

Where did you find your handheld bidet? Is it a straight forward plumbing project? I would want to try ands install it myself if possible.

its super easy, I got mine online. Just google "hand held bidet" and you are sure to come up with a few sites. I think we paid $30 for it....It was an easy install, too.

I carry diaper showers on my website. PM me if you're interested.

I love mine.

I do a "dry" pail, and wash dipes about every 2-3 days. It's a covered pail and I have a "wet bag" that I line it with.

When I wash the whole bag gets dumped into the washer and the liner too. I use Charlie's soap for washing and use Borax in the soak cycle.

I have also on occasion put a piece of fabric with a few drops off tea tree oil and lavender oil on it to help with stinky pail. HTH!

I have spent alot of money on Fuzzi Bunz and kissaluvs so...I always hand wash the yucky poops. I don't like the idea of putting a stained diaper on my baby...I know they are clean, but I want my diapers to look clean too...
I drop the poop into the toilet, then use a sprayer, then scrub the diaper with a bar of Zote soap, or even Ivory. I try to get it pretty clean, then give a good swipe with the soap and throw it in the pail...

Love

I am having to try and remember what I do with soiled dipes when the babies are on solids. I think I just dump what I can and use the dry pail system too. I have a front loading washer so I do a rinse/spin cycle on cold first and then wash with 7th gen. laundry det. If they don't seem to be clean or bright I just put them in the sun to bleach them out.

Dontcha love cloth diapers?!!!!
