I just found this site as well. So many ideas and clever women! I live off grid in the mountains of Washington State with 2 horses, 2 kitties, a flock of chickens an Anatolian Shepard (livestock guardian dog) and, of course, my husband. Gardening and our chicken flock are a very important part of our homestead as we are trying to be as self sufficient as we can, without going overboard in that direction. Our winters are long here so I do a lot of sewing, crafting, rug making all that kind of thing. We also run two websites: one for sales, the other and another blog site we created to share our experiences as they unfold in our transition from city condo life to off grid living in the mountains of Eastern Washington State.

Laurie,

I was just through your area last year and LOVED it!!! (I'd been there many times before but not in awhile.) I thought the area between Tonasket and Republic was gorgeous.

Welcome to the forum!!!

Laurie,
I enjoyed your husband's blog. You are very devoted to keeping your footprint small and I so admire the hard work you have done. I hope you enjoy the Farm here and I look forward to learning a lot from you.

Welcome!

Welcome Lauriee, I'm over in Colville and know your area well--when I was scouting the area before we moved here I did get a tad lost and ended up in Chesaw! Love the little bar with the dollar bills all over the walls and ceiling. Speaking of bars--if you're beer drinkers I bet you have been to the new beer pub in Republic--it's wonderful. We lived off grid for three months in a cute cabin on a ridge overlooking the Kettle Range that we rented. Unfortunately they hadn't used or maintained the solar for a couple of years (they had moved) so we got about 20 minutes of electrical power a day. It was fun!

I love Wauconda. I used to live in Republic which I still love. My inlaws had a rock fireplace made out of pretty pink Wauconda rock. Sounds like you are happy there. Good for you. Welcome to Maryjanes. MB
