It's a good thing seeing as though I'm keeping them in business lol

Last night my big baby managed to try and climb over a tree and cut his leg wide open on a branch. After a 20 minute photo call with the vet, we decided to treat him at home for the night with pain meds, hydrotherapy & antibiotics and then bring him in first thing in the morning. We hauled him to the vet today to see if he could get stitches. He ended up getting 5 stitches(it was about a 5" laceration), which he did NOT like very much. I was really expecting this whole thing to set us back about $300 but I was shocked to find out it was only $75! That was my good news for the day. Now my boy is stuck in a stall for 10 days until we can see about taking the stitches out. Maybe he'll learn to not climb over trees...

This was the after picture. It looks 100000x better than it did before hand.

This is the before photo if you'd like to see it - http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a40/rangergirl56m/Pets/leg.jpg

Oh, poor baby! Awesome vet, though!

Wow, that before picture looked really nasty. I'm so glad you got that stitched up and the horse will be ok. Poor thing. Sometimes they can get in the worst messes, these animals. I had to keep my dog at the animal hospitla a few years back for about a week. I was sick thinking about what that bill was going to be when I went to pick him up. But it was only $150.00. I about fell over with joy instead of shock. Some vets are good like that. Hope the horse continues to heal.

We've really been so blessed. We've had a lot of trips to the vet(we also have a whole lot of animals too though), and we've never had a bill for more than $200. That includes broken legs, spays & neuters, car accidents, etc. Our most expensive vet bill was from a different vet that we ended up having to use because our vets weren't available and that was $600! That was certainly the most painful trip in terms of cost!

You do have a good vet. You are lucky. I hope the horse heals soon. Keep us posted.

it is costing me more than that to have my vet look at lambs and fill out paper work for transport ot another state. You have a GREAT vet! Hope your boy gets better soon and learns his lesson.
