Autumn yes, Halloween no.
We are putting out Halloween decor at the store in August. It always feels like we are rushing it but I am also surprised at the people who come looking for it in August.

I love fall and decorate according , I don't do Halloween either all though I do decorate with pumpkins just nothing scary. Fall is my favorite season of all.

I love Fall! I do decorate for Fall in September and in October add a few things for Halloween. (Nothing scary) Then in November I take down the few Halloween decorations and add a few Thanksgiving items to the rest of the Fall decor.

Yes and Yes!! I saw some decorations out at the dollar tree the other day. My favorite time of year and my favorite holiday. I try to buy a little along when decorations start coming out so I'm not rushed and waiting at the last minute to get something (of course by then most of the good stuff is gone).

 I adore Fall and Halloween(Not the really scary kind), This is my Dept 56. village, It reminds me of how Halloween was in the early 1960's when I was a child. We would start planning our costumes in September, on the walks to and from Elementary School! I love Vintage Halloween cards and Decorations too. Fall is my favorite season of all!!!

| I love Fall is definitely my favorite time of the year. I decorate for Fall and for Halloween. I love the dept 56 stuff and have several of their things. I loved planning my Halloween costume and going out with my brothers. We do Halloween in our front yard (nothing really scary) and the kids love it. Our neighbors use to have a pumpkin carving party each year. In our neighborhood we have started sitting out at the end of your driveways to hand out the candy so it is safer for the kids and easier for the parents. I love this because it is a way to meet people and brings about a community feel. I have also done where you boo someone and that was really fun. |

We like to decorate with things like pumpkins and fall flowers, but though we host a costume party every year, we don't do any specific decorations outside the house beyond carving a few of those pumpkins.
I guess I'm a versatility kind of girl. If I can use it for more than one thing, I will (thrifty, thrifty!), but Halloween has a lot of decorations that are really only good for that one day of the year.

I also do a basic "Fall decor" bit where I add Halloween when Oct 1 hits,then take it down Nov 1 or 2 and then add Thanksgiving decor. The Fall look lasts from August thru November for me,then the sudden shift into Yule either late Nov or early Dec. When you think about it,every holiday is pretty much 1 day if you choose to do it that way- I do for St Pattys & New Years Day. Independence day is pretty much a month long decor bit.

| Fall is my favorite time of year. I like to decorate with general things like pumpkins, scarecrows, and apples. That way, I can enjoy it from September until after Thanksgiving. At Halloween, I have a big ceramic jack-o-lantern plus I like to carve a pumpkin for the front porch. I enjoy the cooler temperatures and fall colors after such a long hot Florida summer!!! Is it September yet??? So, so hot this summer!! |

I'm with you Winnie- I NEED some cooler weather and less humidity! My breathing is not as good as it should be.
I, also LOVE LOVE LOVE Autumn- love baking and cooking and decorating for it! Not anything scary- I love carving a Jack O Lantern or two...My dad has a crow decoy that he used to use for hunting and I put that in a bale of straw with goards and pumkins and mums...it's so much fun! We don't hand out candy at our door, because we live on a very busy highway- so we hand out our candy and my mom's- that way we get to see all of the great costumns and the kids are just adorable!! Touche. I guess I'm more of a seasonal decorator then, but I consider Christmas a season.  Any other holiday is a one-day celebration around here, though they may have plenty of prep time leading up.

My son's birthday is always right around the Equinox so many times we get together with friends to celebrate that all together. I love Halloween and I'm already starting to plan what to do for it. Many years I have a special gf come over to hang out for the night with me while hubby takes the kids out.

I love autumn and I love, love Halloween. All the kids in the neighborhood are grown up, but there are a few who have moved in recently. I'm hoping they dress up and come by. I love the colors of Halloween, especially orange.

I love decorating for the seasons, especially my front entry way . I change my decorations for all of the holidays and seasons. Because my son loves the fall decor, I have already started! He leaves for college next week and I have put out the beginning of the fall/harvest items. My family back in Iowa farms corn and soybeans, so I layer on the harvest decor, adding more and more until Thanksgiving. Each time I go in and out my front door it reminds me to say a prayer for a safe harvest and to be thankful once the harvest is in and our family has "turned the wheel another time" as my dad likes to say. I love this time of year and enjoy all of the decorations and food and festivities. I especially enjoy having the neighborhood children come to the door for Trick-or-Treating ! I love the cute costumes and hearing the sweet/funny things that they say. Last year I gave out lots of different kinds of candy and the big hit with the small boys was chocolate eye balls! I did not expect that! It's 113 degrees today in Phoenix where I live, so it is a big stretch of imagination to be thinking about fall right now (!), but what fun.
I am enjoying reading about what other Farmgirls like to do to mark the fall season.

YES! Fall is by far my favorite season - my husband and I are celebrating anniversary #2 ("cotton anniversary," I believe!) this year on October 23rd. Living where we do in RI, it's just the most colorful, vibrant season - like nature is putting on a show. Plus I like the comfortable temperatures during the day, and slightly chilly temperatures at night so we can leave the window open and pile on the down comforter
I don't push the season - everything I use to decorate goes up at the equinox at the end of September. I normally put a fall wreath I made on the front door, and if I can find the time I plant up the planters on either side of the door. Other preparations include cleaning/shaving all my sweaters from last year, and bringing out all my cozy clothes and throw blankets for when I want to curl up on the couch with a book and some tea or coffee! We live in a great family neighborhood with lots of kids, and have been enjoying Halloween time. I'm considering organizing a progressive dinner with my neighbors - Halloween/fall-themed, of course!

Hi KatyDid,
You live in a wonderful area so close to so many different directions to explore. Just a hop and skip to CT and MA. Your antique stores there have some great bargains. I love the zoo and park near you. I have been there in each season. We often stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Warwick next to the airport and the restaurant attached has some great food! (Their mac and cheese...oh my!) The leaves are beautiful in color. I miss those Portugese donut things (sorry, I forgot what they are called). Now those with some hot apple cider sitting in the park...that's living!
