I set 10 eggs under a broody hen on July 1st. Six were coronation Sussex, four were silver sussex. So far 4 have hatched. Two black(silvers) One yellow (coronation) and one PURPLE chick.
I emailed the lady in Buckley that I got the hatching eggs from, she says it is a Splash Orpington. She has been working on an English Orpington project, and apparently, I got one of those eggs. I love fancy chickens.

Congratulations! I just had two hatch today too! We just got a rooster a few months ago and when one of our Australorps went broody we let her have 3 eggs on July 4th. One broke a couple of weeks ago and the other two just hatched this morning. This is just the coolest thing ever! My roo is a Rhode Island Red so I have mixed breed chicks. I've never heard of a purple chick!! That's so awesome!
