HI I was wondering if you can use the homemade soap in the front load washers? We just got ours and I know the soap I had before was not compatible. I was wondering about the homemade soap, does anyone use it in theirs with good results? Thanks!

I've used it in mine for abut 5 years now with no problem. Just remember two things....1. Less is more with the front loaders and that goes the same for homemade soap. I only use about 2-3 Tbsp. of liquid homemade soap per load. And 2. Clean your machine out with an empty vinegar/super hot wash about once a month to keep soap scum from building up in the lines.

I too have been using my homemade detergent in my front loader for 6 years now and no problems. Again, less is more. Even had a repair man tell me that using my homemade stuff was a lot better than the soap you buy in the stores. He said those tend to clog the filters in the machines and leaves a residue (front or top loaders) which isn't good for the machine - that's what causes the problems people have with their machines. Also said that using too much soap does more harm to a machine than anything else. Also, be sure and do a good cleaning once a month and use vinegar for the rinse - the softeners you get in the stores clog the machine up too. Be sure and leave the door open after each use and wipe out the rubber gasket inside - helps to not get mold build-up - and wipe the inside of the door after your done too. Otherwise it gets cloudy from the water (especially if you have hard water). So go for it! |

I've been using homemade dry soap mix with a vinegar rinse in my front loader and it's been great. One of the nice things about making your own is you don't get the extra perfumes- and if you want you can scent it with some essential oil. I like using a couple drops of Aura Cacia Medievil Mix.

I have used the wet homemade laundry soap for four months and I am thrilled with the results. Especially, the cleanliness of my machine compared to store bought detergent. No build up. Marianne |

I've been using the dry homemade soap for at least a year. I have a top loader but it's a high-efficiency top loader. No problems.

I have used the liquid homemade detergent for two years in my front loader with no problems. When I run out of dishwasher detergent and need something in a hurry, I use it in the dishwasher, also.
