I have a design and hubby says I need to copyright it, well, do something to protect it from unauthorized use.
Anyone know which it is and how to do it?? Sounds silly, but I don't have the money to go to an attorney for this. If it were really mind-blowing, yep, I'd prolly spring for it, but, this is my first one and will prolly be pretty small. My first foray!! YAY!!

Hi...I used the website http://www.copyright.gov/forms for my writing. I see on there is a place to copyright artwork, etc. It takes a few months to receive it back, but the fees are affordable.

you can also do a 'poor mans copyright'...its where you mail yourself the original & never ever open it...you have to put stamps to all areas that can be opened...top & bottom envelope flaps & have it hand stamped thur all the stamps on it....I have done this before & am doing it again with my newest self published book..............another thing you can do with this is send a copy to the library of congress for their collection, so they have it on file & can find it if ever you have someone trying to use your item as their own....Michele'

My husband is a musician and we have copyrighted his music. We did it all online, it was immediate. The fee was $35 last time we used it. Not sure what it is for other types of work. Trademark fees are expensive. Good luck to you!
