Hi All,
The dr tells me I have arthritis in my knees.
I am having sooooo much pain in them, I was wondering if any of you have had experiences with some good remedies to help?
He will probably want to put me on Celebrex or something, so I am trying to avoid those hard on your body drugs
Any ideas would really help
thanks
Shirley

Oooh, go to a good vitamin source like VitaminShoppe.com and look for things containing combinations of the following ingredients:

glucosamine
chondroitin sulfate
MSM (or methylsuflonylmethate)
boswellia
ginger
turmeric

The first one helps to increase the resiliency of the cartilage scaffolding. The second increases the viscocity of the synovial fluid, or "joint oil." The third is a very safe and odorless sulfur derivitive of DMSO. The others are really kitchen herbs that have been shown to have high medicinal value as anti-inflammatories without the side effects you see with NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as ulcers and intestinal bleeding.

You need to take them for three to four weeks before you begin to notice big time relief, but they will work. And they're all ultra safe!

So sorry you're having pain in the knees. I can sympathize as I had surgery for torn cartilage a few years back in one knee and it flares up occasionally - especially in air-conditioned cars with the air blowing on it, or when it is cold and rainy outside. I think back to those leg warmers we wore in the seventies, I think that would be good for the air conditioner problem...

Watkins has a product called Linimax that includes the ingredients that Mary Ann mentions (minus the MSM, I will have to check that out) plus whole grape extract.

I have been taking it for a year and it does help, but as Mary Ann mentions, you have to take it for several weeks.

I have also taken tart cherry juice concentrate for arthritis pain relief, it was recommended by a friend who drinks it religiously every morning. I got some in the produce section at Meijers. Here is a web site that discusses this topic http://www.allaboutarthritis.com/AllAboutArthritis/layoutTemplates/html/en/contentdisplay/document.jsp?docID=condition/arthritis/clinicalNews/tart_cherry_juice.xml&questionID=

I've read that exercise like walking is good for arthritis but on the other hand if your knees hurt sometimes the last thing you feel like doing is walking - ask your doctor if you should.

You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands - You shall be happy and it shall be well with you. -Psalm 128.2

I am so glad you gals brought this subject up. I was told I have arthritis in my knees this past spring when I fell and wiped one of my knees out (bad sprain and bruised up pretty good) I can sure feel that it is alot more painful as the weather gets colder like it has the past week. I take way too much excedrin already (headaches) so I hate to add something stronger or worse..I want to try to look for these products. Thanks!!

I have started taking some of the things mentioned, and Ive heard of the cherry juice, but had forgotten about it.
I know it takes awhile for the natural things to work, but better than those hard core drugs, Im one of those that thought Id never get something like my mother ,wrong. I think I am my mother lol
Thanks gals
