I spotted a few potato bugs while watering today-I have NEVER seen a bug like this before, but sure enough after searching the internet it is definitely a potato bug infestation-DARN!

Now what? Anything tried and true you could recommend to kill the nasty buggers would be greatly appreciated!

Talk to me ladies....

hand pick them off is the easiest, and feed them to your chickens, you will have to cook the soil this fall to kill their larve that will winter over...

Pick the bugs off and squish. Check under the leaves for the orange egg clusters. Pick those leaves off as well, and squish.

we hand pick them and pop them into soapy water. Our chickens won't eat them :)

Are they orange? I hand pick them off and toss them to the chickens.

Melody, I'd do what the others girls are suggesting, or put them in a tub of soapy water if you dont want to squish them. Once you notice beetles on your potatoes, you'll have to scout your plants every day to keep them under control. These pests can defoliate & kill potato plants within days.
