Duke...One of our sale horses we bought back in march sold and will be going to a great new home tomorrow.

"Kyoot" guy!! Congrats on the sale! Do you buy and sell?? I loff to buy a project horse, fix them up and resell to the best homes I can find. I get a bigger kick out of that than almost anything else.

Well my brother breeds these fabulous appys but he gets too busy to market them or do much with them, so we end up with a couple of them every year. We really don't have a lot of time to finish all of them so we pretty much sell some of them at a moderate price even though they are very high quality foundation bloodlines. But one of my daughters did buy a San Peppy 3 yr old gelding this spring as a project horse to make a nice profit. And we also acquired a yearling paint filly that we are reselling. She is very fast also. But for the most part we don't have a lot of time for extra horses with barrel racing. We breed a couple of mares each year but we try to be very selective and not breed too many. One of the appy half brothers to this one is half Tennessee walker and the other one is a few spot full appy colt, he will make spots on anything he's bred to. So I am hoping someone buys him for breeding. He is a rare find. I am also selling my perlino stallion Iceman, and a race bred filly weanling. (Sweethearts baby). I am with you though. It is fun to fix them up and resell them to good homes.

If I get back to Appys, I'm sticking with foundation all the way. That's what I started with and should have stayed there. My best horses of all times have been foundation. When the other blood started being added, I think things went downhill. Give me foundation, be it QH, Morgan, App, what have you. I don't show anymore so that's a non-issue with me. Too bad we're so far apart...

This particular bloodline grows slowly, which I think is really better and more natural. They grow till they are 8, up and out, and they are sooo tough. But I think that is one reason people don't realize how nice these horses are. People want them to have size at 1. They are so fast and quick and it takes a good rider to stay with them. Not an old lady like me.... LOL. One of my daughters is finishing out one of them, a 5 yr old mare. She is palomino but full registry appy. She turns around the barrel faster than any horse I have ever seen. Just incredible. No way I could stay with her. Yes too bad we are so far apart, but it's not too hard to find barrel racers that don't mind hauling an extra horse :)And we are looking into traveling north to compete in the next few years because since our horses live at 8000 ft altitude they are better acclimated to cooler weather and us too. We go 100 miles south to a barrel race and we are just melting.

Your horse is really pretty! Chestnuts have always been my favorites. I saw some really beautiful horses today. this woman lives on an estate and she rescues horses that would be sold to the butcher. One horse she rescued was a great grand-daughter of Secretariat. The vet gave her a .5 on a scale of 1 to 10 when they first got her. Now she's filled out and ready for shows. She had all kinds of animals--horses, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks...my kind of place to live! But I'll have to settle for a suburban animal farm.

Well I didn't really have time for him so I won't miss him too much. Besides he is only across the road with a really sweet owner. I keep looking over there when I go by to see them playing with him. hehe. Fun.
