At the Farmer's Market today, I sold all of my wild black raspberry jam I made. I'm heading back out for more berry picking. Yum!

Berry fever hit about a week ago here in Central NC!

I'm out picking and freezing our wild blackberries just about every evening or afternoon. Will continue to do this 'till there are no more berries to be had. This keeps me out for about an hour and roaming for up to about 2 or 3 miles! It's great exercise for sure- especially sice I wear a layer of long pants and shirt to combat chiggers!

Will make my jelly in the fall, so for now I'm focusing on packing the freezer full! (I have a steam juicer- so no squishing and no bitter aftertaste any more- yea!)

Sure do wish WE had wild raspberries. I have cultivated ones that will bear until frost nips them back, but it's not the same as being able to pick the wild ones- for sure! . And after paying nearly 8.00 for a 1/2 pint at our local health food store, I was motivated to start growing and making my own raspberry jam. HA HA

Happy picking!

I have blackberries for the first time this year. they're not quite ripe yet. Some have a pinkish color so I look for them to ripen soon. Around here they're usually ripe by the Fourth of July. I won't have a whole lot, but at least I'll have the satisfaction of growing them. Everything else in my garden has done poorly so I'm glad the blackberries are looking good.

The neighbor boys have been picking blackberries. Their mom made some kind of fruit roll up with them. So good!!!!

Just finished picking tame strawberries here in WI. Should get out and find some wild strawberries. Blackberries are just getting done blooming, and no raspberries yet.

Seems like you just can't have it both ways sometimes.

While the berries re going absoutly crazy....our garden too has suffered.

Beans are doung ok. Canned a few quarts the other day. Cukes and zucchini are also doing well. Corn on the other hand is les than knee high and I'm afraid for our watermelon.

Still waiting for tomatoes. We planted 200 (thank you father in law) so plants are thriving and putting on fruits, but we need the rain!

Meantime, I'll keep picking and puttin' up berries!

It will still be a few weeks before mine are ready, just the thought makes my mouth water.

We planted a few more raised beds of strawberries this year. I hope to have enough of my own some day.

We tried planting blueberries - didn't work. Here, it takes about 2 years just to prepare the soil. We decided we may plant blackberries next year.
