I am working on opening up a new business with my daughter. We have been busy the last week comparison shopping for supplies and talking to others in the field. We have been discussing this venture for a year and it is finally all coming around. She is the driver, and I am tagging along. But we make a great team. I will post more about it soon.

Its always exciting when you are able to see your dreams come to fruition. Good luck on your adventure and looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Here is what we have been up to...It has been exhausting, but the payoff has been amazing. We are starting a coffee truck business. Similar to the kiosk out west but it will be on wheels. We picked up a usable truck for the business and paid a fair price for it. It is a hot dog food truck and will have to be modified as a coffee truck. More counter space will have to be created for the coffee and espresso equipment. Stickers removed and replaced with our own logo. My daughter estimated the cost of all our coffee equipment to be about 16K new, but we managed to purchase almost all the professional coffee equipment we need and paid only 2500 for it. The Mr CoffeeMan that sold it to us is even going to train us how to use it. We can't believe how everything is falling together the way it has. The Mr CoffeeMan has been in the coffee business for 32 years. He has given us encouragement and support and genuinely wants our business to succeed. We have never even worked in a coffee shop. But we love coffee. Mr. CoffeeMan has taught us more in the past week talking with him then we have learned reading through all the "How to start a coffee shop" books. We hooked up with him from someone who sells restaurant equipment. He told us he has never in 32 years purchased NEW equipment but always used. He has bought out several shops and acquired extra equipment. I will post more pictures after our truck receives the make-over.

Patty, everything looks so good! Hooray for you! I am so happy for you and your daughter. I know you will do very well especially after what you told me about your town. This is so wonderful to hear that excitement in your voice. Keep us posted as to how things are going. Is that the name of your business, Bun on the Run?
Hugs and squeezies,
Nancy

No, the business is not named Bun on the Run, Nancy. That is what the truck was previously. It is going to be called "Jake's Coffee and Espresso". This is also an attempt to lure Jake (for those not familiar with Jake, he is one of my sons) to move to Illinois with us. We have offered his GF a job. :)

Busy, busy, Busy... All the truck decals have been removed. We removed the 2 compartment sink, the single sink, grill and steam tables and put a new counter top in. We painted the cabinets. We are waiting for the new 3 compartment sink and hand washing sink (required by the health department)to arrive. They should arrive and be installed by the end of the week. Today I will go to Springfield for Barista training. WOOHOO! I AM GOING TO BE A BARISTA! I am pretty excited. I worked on water lines yesterday... might need a little expertise help here. Sometimes you need to walk away and sleep on it, and then sometimes you need to just scream for help. A moment where I realize that I am not the wonder woman that I think I am.

Oh Patty...this is so exciting and I'm glad you are sharing it with us! Living in the northwest, we love our coffee and take it rather seriously. Whenever I'm out in the mid-west, I always lament the fact that I can't find a good little coffee place. Now, if I ever get back out there, I'm going to have to find your coffee bar on wheels.
Can't wait to see more pictures!

The truck gets the lettering applied today. We are still waiting for the gray water holding tank. It had to be special ordered. I think we are probably looking at an opening of 2 weeks away. Health department takes their time with inspections.

The lettering has been applied! We are not quite ready to open. Our opening day has been delayed just a bit as we wait for some special order equipment to come in, but we're still here! Hopefully it will only be a couple weeks until we're up and running. Stay tuned! We made a chalk board to place beside the truck to display specials out of an old baby bed. We are so ready, but yet not ready. :(

Oh my. We are still waiting.... We had to special order the grey water holding tank and it took a month for the plumber to install it after it arrived. Installed last week. Woot,Woot!!. Now, we are waiting for the health department to show up and give us our certification. This was suppose to happen yesterday. I thought I might share some pictures of the inside.
