My husband is competing this weekend at the World Champion Blacksmith Competition in New Mexico. It's only his second competition(ever), so he could really use some prayers that he stays calm, works diligently, gets QUIET horses and does the best he can. He's only in the novice class but he will still be competing against other farriers from all over the country.

Also, PLEASE pray for our trip out & back there. We planned the trip before I found out I was pregnant but now I can barely ride in a car without feeling very sick. Please just pray that we make it there & back without any incidents!

Thank you ladies!

How cool is THAT, Nicole! I'll definitely pray for him! Very exciting! And for you, your pregnancy AND your trip! :) YAY! A new baby! Congratulations!!! I don't know if this will help, but when my Mom was pregnant with me, she had 24 hour morning sickness, and she would suck on lemons. She said it made her feel loads better. I know everyone's different, but since it came to mind, I thought I'd share! :) Please keep us posted! Hugs - Nini

Well we made it out here okay although it was a LONG drive. My husband did okay in his class yesterday, he had some problems with his shoes but he knows what hie did wrong and can learn from those mistakes. He's got another class today and then the judging is tonight. He's not real hopefully he'll place(there are 40+ in his class) but this is still a great learning experience.

Thank you all for your prayers! We had a fantastic weekend and made it home safely. It has been a LONG weekend though. My husband didn't do nearly as well as he'd hoped. He came in 17th out of 22 in his class however the classes are really tough because you have people like him who have been studying in school for 12 weeks now(he graduates and comes home on Friday!!!!) against people who have been shoeing horses for a living for 15 years. He learned a lot and has a much better idea of what to do next time.

Here are a few photos from the competition:

Misc from the Competition-

Plus we got to visit the zoo because the competition was held at the zoo!

He did GREAT!! Learning is what counts and he did that and he will be better for it. There's always next year and each year he will get better. I admire his courage to TRY. Glad you are home safely. Big hug for his efforts. Congrats on the baby news. Joey

I'm still very very proud of him. He's chasing a dream and working his butt off to provide for me and our children. We may not have a whole lot but we have a lot of love & happiness and that's all that matters. He will possibly be going to CT to compete in September through this same group(World Championship Blacksmiths), and then they have two more competitions(One in Nov in Louisiana & one in Dec in Texas). It will be a lot of traveling(I'm just seeing $$$ add up!) but he is gaining so much knowledge that will make him far better at his job.
