Hey girls :) I'm excited to share some new soaps I've made, especially since I'm going to buy my MJF Sisterhood membership with my first $20 in sales (can't believe it's taken me so long to sign up!!).
Also, in addition to my regular rewards program (one free bar for every ten you buy), I'm going to do something special just for the MJF gals! If you buy three bars, you can pick a fourth for free! The three paid bars still count towards the ten, so you can get several free bars along the way. :)
All the soaps below are vegan, handmade in small batches using olive oil, coconut oil, and sustainably-produced palm oil. The bars are about 4 oz each. I can fit four bars in a small Priority flat rate box. $5.50/bar.
Essential Oil/Colorant Free Bars
Citrusy Calendula Soap with Litsea & Bergamont Essential Oils
Pure Peppermint Soap
Regular Soap Bars (made with high-quality, skin-safe fragrance oils)
Sweet Meyer Lemon Soap
Refreshing Lettuce Soap
Rosehip Jasmine Soap
Men's Scents
Black Tea Soap
Ancient Sedona Soap
Cold Water Soap
Wasabi Soap
Musk Soap

Hi Jodi I got your package today, So the scents are softer in these samples? The violet was really light I really like them all, I want to order all three and get the 4th one free, I have to wait until I get my check so how much would I owe on this? The fourth one I would like would be the Meyer Lemon. So the Meyer lemon isn't the one that looks lemon Merange pie? Anyway they will make a nice gift also. So you use 3 different oils in your soap do you use lye and why do they use lye to make soap? I was at a farmers market today and the lady was making soap from goats milk and she said some other person used lye to make soap and she got really ill from it. She didn't use lye in hers. She did have a charcoal soap, that was interesting. Well thanks and let me know. darlene

Hi Jodi,
I was wondering if you could send me somw samples of your soaps for the scents. I have terribly dry skin, in the winter it is even worse and love the olive oil soap but have never had any that was scented. How do they stand up as far as lasting. They sure look pretty. Will send you a personal e-mail with my address and such in it. Thanks!

Karla, your package is on it's way! :)
The activated charcoal soap is excellent for absorbing kitchen odors, etc. I love it...works wonderful on garlic!
Darlene, glad the samples got there okay! All my soaps have softer scents (I find some people are sensitive to extremely scented bars), but the sample scents are lighter (the small sample sizes dry out quickly, and the fragrance dissipates.) I'll send you an email tonight when I get home from work. The Sweet Meyer Lemon is one of my favorites! :) The 'lemon meringue' looking bar is yellow for the jasmine (Rosehip Jasmine). :)
As far as the ingredients go, I do use the three oils listed in my original posting. I'm not sure how the lady at your farmer's market makes soap without lye, unless it was melt and pour/glycerin base. All true soap is made using a chemistry process that requires lye. The finished soap doesn't have any lye left, because the oils neutralize it. If she got ill from lye soap, it probably wasn't made correctly, or she really had a reaction to another ingredient (color, fragrance, etc). Interesting note...even pure glycerin soap is used with glycerin derived from "real" soap, or soap made with lye. :)
Elaine, I'd love to send you some samples! Which scents are you interested in? The olive oil is sooo moisturizing! :) The key to long lasting soap is to keep it from sitting in water, so use a draining soap dish. My bars have all cured at least 4 weeks, most have cured over 6 weeks.... this makes soap last longer, too. When I use a bar, it'll last me over a month. :)
