kids not put their parents down as mom and dad in their cellphones due to peoples scams, but my daughters co-worker was in a horrific car wreck sunday before last and it took the hospital 2 days to find her parents because her cell phone listed them as betty and tom, the ER is recomending that everyone should go back to mom and dad, cause in some cases, 2 days is way too late...

Well I'm not too worried about scams and we still put mom and dad in ours, BUT, if you are too worried about scams, a few years ago we were told to start putting in ICE, and we thought every one had started doing that. (ICE=In Case of Emergency).

I think we'll stick with the old ways. I like the "ICE" idea.

Oh my goodness! How is your daughter's co-worker???

I never heard about that cell phone recommendation... Now I'm not sure what to do! But thank you for sharing this with us - there's much to consider!

my daughters co-worker has a long road ahead of her, skull fracture, crushed facial bones, crushed leg and arm, broken pelvis, broken ribs, which punctured her lung, will be looking at lots of reconstructive surgery along with plastic surgery, she is in an induced coma to help her heal and so she will be able to deal with all that has happened including the death of her passenger, who was also her best friend...a trucker fell asleep and hit them head on, he died the next day, this has been a tragedy for 3 differant families...

I'm not worried about scams, but I would worry that not everyone would know what ICE meant, since that is also the iliegal alien police/border patrols name...

In NYC after 9/11 I thought that ICE was protocol we were told to put it in our phones, on the news, etc.

Wow, Tina, I'll be praying for all of those involved in the accident! A dear friend of mine was in an accident with similar injuries two years ago, he's doing really well now (except still dealing with effects of his TBI)

ICE is a good way to denote who to call. Personally I have my parents in my phone as Mom and Dad, I never text either of them (prepaid phone so texting takes away minutes) and we have a "code phrase" so they know that I'm calling of my own free will and am safe and ok.

SO sorry to hear about your daughters best friend. She does have a long road ahead. My SIL was in a similar accident 15 years ago. He spent almost 5 months in a rehab but he is fine now too. Hope all goes well for her. Joey
