My chickens don't eat my strawberry plants... just the berries and they LOVE them. It's weird what chickens will eat and what they won't. Like most animals I have noticed that the majority of the time they won't eat something if it's bad for them. I put out oranges for the orioles in the summer and last summer I had some squirrels get them off the feeder and throw them on the ground and the chickens ate everything inside of the peel but didn't touch the peel. It was interesting to see. Anyway I guess anything in large quantities could be hurtful at some point.

Mothers are those wonderful people who can get up in the morning before the smell of coffee. ~Author Unknown

I was surprised to see this. I grew up on a chicken farm. We gave them whatever, greens and fruits, apples, pears, berries etc. They knew what to eat and what not to eat. Never had any die. We sold the eggs and butchered for meat. They very well be talking about man made arsenic which is not the same as in the apples because it takes a huge amount of seeds to get an amount that would make one sick. We have been known to eat the seeds ourselves.

O, a trouble's a ton or a trouble's an ounce,
Or a trouble is what you make it!
And it isn't the fact that you're hurt that counts,
But only--how did you take it?
