We use almond milk some, soy-almond combo, have bought some hemp milk but have not tried it yet but my hubby's favorite is vanilla rice milk for his cereal. Its a little sweet for me but like you, my hubby does not like the taste of milk at all but loves his vanilla rice milk.

We use only Almond or Soy milk. I prefer the Almond and DH the Silk. DH LOVES the chocolate soy milk for a quick snack when his sweet tooth gets the best of him. My daughter prefers rice milk but enjoys the almond milk in her coffee for a sweet treat. I haven't had cold cereal in over a year but I do crave it at night sometimes. :)

Chocolate Silk is my absolute best friend - no kidding! I've not found a commercial almond milk that I care for - rice either. Almond always tastes like almond extract to me (which I don't like), and rice is just to watery and sweet.
Have you thought about coconut milk? My hubby likes it. You can just buy a can of regular coconut milk and add water, sweetener, vanilla to taste. By being able to make it yourself, you will a)save $$$, and b)be able to control the ingredients, esp the sugar.
Just a thought...

I almost forgot - here's how you can make your own almond milk at home, just by mixing almond butter, water, and the sweetener of your choice (especially important for you). I've made it with almond butter and agave, almond butter and honey, and I have a friend who makes it with almond butter, honey, a little cocoa powder and some frozen strawberries for a milk shake.

I don't like to eat cereal, so I pour almond milk over chia seeds--yes, chia seeds. I add some sliced banana. I think it's better than cereal, and chia seeds are very good for you. Cindy

Just to throw another one in to the mix, I love me my hazelnut milk. In a pinch, I'll settle for unsweetened vanilla almond milk, but I really like the hazelnut milk the best. And to change things up a bit, I'll sometimes order my latte with oat milk.

I am not allowed to have dairy anymore and love almond milk as a replacement. The coconut milk is good also but the advantage of the almond milk is to me it has a creamier taste than the coconut milk. I use the unsweetened almond milk in my cooking and oatmeal. I have to keep an eye on my sugar intake so stopped using the vanilla almond milk, but previously enjoyed that flavor on my cereal. I have found out of most of the alternative milks it is the one that doesn't really change the taste/flavor of items.

We use the vanilla almond milk for cereal and tea. Cook with the plain. Also have coconut, hazelnut, rice and occasionally soy (but not often). I used to make almond milk for one of my babies who couldn't tolerate milk or formula. Almonds and water in the blender, whir it up. Drain, repeat. THere's only a couple of us who use almond milk now, so it's easier to buy the organic than make it for me.

I make my own almond milk and love it! I soak 1 cup of almonds overnight and then rinse the next morning. Put them in a blender and add 4 cups of water. I use a VitaMix so I'm not sure how well a regular blender could do the job. Then I pour the liquid into a nut milk bag and squeeze out the milk. I save the pulp for making crackers or cookies in the dehydrator.
Some people like to add a couple of dates to the mixture but I think it's plenty sweet without. You can also adjust the measurements using a 1 to 4 ratio. If you want a creamier milk you can reduce the amount of water you use. There's also been times when I make a small amount and just add fruit without straining it. It's not smooth like milk but is more filling.

Have been drinking almond milk for over 8 years now.
I prefer the Blue Diamond brand since all they do is almonds, and do them well. Both the shelf stable cartons and the refrigerted varieties are extremly palatable. Cereal stands up to it andif you were used to skim milk, making the swich won;t make much differecne at all.
I have tried the other milks and always come back to this one. It just tastes the cleanest and most crisp. This particualr brand also has the most varieties offered, be they sweetened , unsweetened, vanilla, and chocolate and unsweetened chocolate if you have some place available to shop like a Whole Foods. (here it is a bit more expensive). The unsweetend vanilla or original is lowest in calories and carbs if these are issues for you.
And for a real treat, I recommend rice milk. It tastes exactlly like drinking rice chex cereal. Pretty tasty but high in carbs.
Not big on soy, sorry
Have also tried hemp milk but it's been awhile |

Woukd say that the unsweetend doesn't have much almond taste at all---eithet that or I'm jsut so used to it....nothing like almosd extract at all.
The full sugared variety is too sweet, so try the unsweetened variety---or try all the varieties one at a time and decide for yourself |

Love Almond Milk! I like the chocolate better but also like the sweetened vanilla on cereal. If you have an Aldi grocery store near you, their brand is very good, too, ...and cheaper.

I also love the blue diamond, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, doesn't taste like almond extract at all to me. It's really really good. Just don't try to make pudding with it. lol
But, great on cereal, and I love it for smoothies, and such as that.

I started buying Almond Milk after I heard Dr. Oz say that it's good for the skin. I love it so much that I've replaced it for regular cow's milk. I get the plain, no sugar added, organic if possible or the non-organic that has a "No GMOs" sticker on it.

For cooking, thus far using almond milk with reliability has been the boxed nut breads and quick loaves like the blueberry muffin mix and a cookie recipe that used about 2 tablespoons worth
Pretty much anything that calls for cows milk, I have substituted and used the almond milk, and had good success.
