On the weekend getaway I took a few weekends ago, we took a wrong route and ended up shopping at a very neat antique store. While we were there, I found a make up train case. However, it would not open. They clerks did not have the combination and the seller was not available.

I went home without it. However, after a phone call, one of the clerks played around with it and got it open.

For $18.00, I now own a Platt Airess case. Anyone have any idea how old it could be? I try to get a photo posted later. It's a fade blue color, and almost looks greenish.

Oh...they shipped it to me. YAY! It's missing the tray inside, but I can figure something out to fit in there too.

How cool Kristina!

I love finding antique shops or fun places by mistake :) Your case sounds great and I'm sure that you can come up with something for the tray, maybe something from a tackle box?

I saw online that the company started in 1921. I know that those cases were popular from the 30's up.

Hooray for you Kristina! I love it when things work out like that!
enjoy it, and do post a pic when you can. Just hopped over to your blog to see if there was a picture there, and alas, no train case but boy oh boy- what a GREAT selection of jelly and jam! Yum!!
Can you tell me how you used the organic juice in the jams? Did you add it in with actual fruit? Do tell......lol

Hi Laurie,
I use the organic juice in place of actual fruit. I have one dd that does not like fruit in her jelly. However, I do use wild black raspberries and blueberries to make those jellies. My strawberries and rhubarb are not producing enough yet to make jams.

The grape jelly is made with concord grape juice (organic) and has wonderful flavor. Some of the others are not as strong as flavor, but delicious.
